"To be or not to be?" I honestly don't know yet.

I rode with Karsen for nearly six hours before pulling into my dad's driveway. Karsen Bennet is a twenty year old girl who's been working at the bakery for a few years. By a few I mean since it opened when she was 15 years old. Her and Casey are close and when Casey told her what happened to me, Karsen offered to drive.

So now I'm in a car. On my way to my dad's house. The dad I barely know. The dad who had me. The one who ditched my family. Great.

Karsen pulled up the dirt driveway looking back at me through the rear view mirror, "You ready, Ash?"

"I don't know. I barely know this guy. What if he hates me? What if he hurts Ty and Griff because of me?"

"Woah, woah! Don't worry. I'm sure your mom had reasons for taking you and he'll understand if it was for your safety. Everything will be fine. Just breathe. Okay?" She smiled as she parked, "You got this."

She looked at me as I hopped out of the car and started walking up to the front door, "Here's my number, call me if you ever need anything, 'kay?"

"Yeah. Thanks Karsen." I smile weakly than turn on my heel and head towards the door.
Thirty steps. Thirty one if you count the door frame I stepped through.

I knocked on the door. No answer. I rang the doorbell. The knobbed turned and the door to my dad's house and the beginning of my worst nightmare opened.

"Griff!" I yelled throwing my arms around him. He gripped me tightly holding me close. Ty came running down, her face breaking into a smile when she saw me. Soon we were all hugging in the middle of the doorway. We stayed like that for nearly five minutes.

"How are you? How'd you get out of the hospital? How'd you get here? Have you seen mom yet?" Griff and Ty fired questions like bullets at me.

"I'm fine. I ran. Casey got a girl named Karsen to drive me and no I haven't. Now my turn. Where were you? Why didn't you visit me? What happened to the house? Why are you here? How did you escape the fire? Does everyone know I'm a dragon? Did I kill anyone?"

"We were at a friend's house. We didn't have a car to take. It's gone. Mom's missing so we have to come here. We got lucky. No. You almost killed us all, but you got lucky." Griff takes a deep breath. "And dad is out so, uh yeah. That's it."

Ty looks at me, "What were you thinking? You could've killed us all! You destroyed the house!"

"And you ignored me for half of my life, lied to me about all of it, and have nearly ended it several times! And because of that second reason we are nowhere near even, so don't even think about that possibility!" I shout back at her, glaring daggers at her.

Griff steps in, "Guys calm down. Look dad's gonna be home soon so let's all take a deep breath and try to get along," he looks at me, "Dad is going to try to covert you to his tribe of dragons. I'm just warning you ahead of time that this will cause some serious conflict between us and mom. Just tread carefully."

We walk into the kitchen which smells like some sort of salad dressing mixed with cookies. Not a bad smell, but not exactly pleasant. There is a brown table with four seats and there are no windows.

There is a stained glass light hanging over the table. On the table are four glass plates with a bird design on them and matching napkins. Griff takes me through the living room before opening a basement door.

Unlike I was expecting, the basement stairs are actually very nice. They are carpeted and the lights turn on as we walk down. Once we get down, my mind is blown. For a dirt road driveway, this house is really nice.
