A series of underground tunnels. Kids. Teenagers. Probably some escape convicts. And lots of drug sellers. The definition of sketchy. Sin guided me through the party.

As we wove through the crowds I started to notice things. Tobacco smoke filled the air, singing echoed through the room. Food and drink were spilled all over the ground. The smell of alcohol was heavy in everyone I passed.

Guess they aren't much better than their problems. I continued to follow Sin through the crowd to an empty tunnel. Curtain doors flowed and ladders led to more rooms above. At the end of the tunnel there was an intersection.

"That way," Sin pointed to the left of the intersection, "is where the people in charge live. And that," he motioned to the right, "is where we would hide if the cops found us. And straight ahead is more living space."

He walked me back to a room with a thick blue curtain.

"Where do you get the curtains from?" I asked before I closed it.

"We steal them." He shrugged, "See ya later Dragon Girl."

I closed the curtain. The room was fairly large with a low ceiling. The ceiling was grey stone. There was a bed with a mattress in the left corner and that was it. I pulled my suitcase by the bed and took inventory of what I had. I sat staring at my suitcase for what seemed like years when I heard my curtain rustle.

"Hello?" I called.

"Can I come in?" A girl's voice.

"Uh, sure."

"Hey. Name's Kade. I run this place. The only rule is not to tell on us. While you're with us everything you do is for us. Any questions?"
"If the government comes for me don't be surprised."

I looked her dead in the eye. Intimidation is a good thing.

She scoffed, "You're not that special Newbie."

"I'm part dragon. And if you decide to turn me in I'll destroy this place the moment I realize what you've done because all it takes for me to shift is anger. And lately that seems to be a common emotion with me."

"Watch your tone Newbie." She rose to leave.

"Watch your back." I smirked.

She left without another word. I took a breath. My arm cooled down. Wait a second. I felt my arm. It was warm. I've got to get this under control. I stayed in my room the rest of the night.

When I woke up there was a note at my door.
Heard what you said to the boss. Totally savage! Meet me in the big room.
-S.

I laughed silently to myself. I threw on some new clothes and headed to the room that had been crowded with people only the day before. Now only cups and plates were left.

"Hey Dragon Girl. Little savage. Who knew?"

He smirked and slapped my back.

"Uh, thanks I think. So why did you wanna meet?" I asked him, but scanned the room.

"I'm gonna show you around up top. Down here is pretty cool, but up there is better. Besides, I think after that encounter with the boss you should maybe stay away for a while."

"She doesn't scare me. I could eat her. Literally." I looked at him this time.

"True. But still. You should get to know the area."

I shrugged, "Where do we start?"

Ten minutes later he was showing me the different stores they stole from, and the bakeries that gave them food willingly.
