It was the last week in August. Time flies dosen't it. Summer felt ridiculously short. I was trying to cram in as much time with my dad as I could. We spent every night together and a lot of his days off. Since we were spending so much time I saw a lot of photographs of us online. I could now Google search my name. Only Olive Vie though. Nothing came up in Mallery.
But tonight Dad had to go to a party in San Francisco so he said he would be back in the morning. He was taking a helicopter which I thought was a little much. Kaine ran after him with his his keys and suit jacket. Yapping into the phone about a cab to the landing. Dad rushed out the door, telling my how to tomorrow night he promised I would be his. The door slammed shut and the house grew quiet. Even Kaine had plans for the evening.
"It's my necie's wedding." She said powdering her nose. I slumped down the wall.
"You mean i'm going to be here all by myself. It's only five."
Kaine shrugged, putting large gold earrings in. "Find some way to make yourself useful. Why don't you say goodbye to those friends of yours. You're leaving in four days aren't you?"
She was right. I hadn't thought that much about them. I had grown really close to them in the last month. We went to the beach, the movies, even the the waster youth club but I was home by ten. I just wanted to stay home and not run around trying to supply their endless needs. I can see Riley spilling tea on the white couch, I could see Leah going through Kaine's room. Sky wasn't a hassle at all. He would chase after me helping.
Sky and I have become extremley close. I even gave him my number. We texted each other everyday and I somehow saw him as my Adam replacement. Except richer and well sexier. Adam is cute but no one can denie Sky is geourgeous. Sky is a mix of Japanese and Chilean. His parents are both models so you get the idea. I liked Sky. I'm not going to lie. He was sweet, funny, beautiful and the perfect balance between bad and good. The thing about having a crush if you must mentally prepare yourself to be crushed.
Kaine left mid afternoon. I wanted to talk to my friends but I started to think about New York. I shouldn't get to attached should I? The sun was going down and sinking into the Hills slowly. I spun one of my dad's records. A nice Otis Redding one. I paced around the house. Looking at the golden sky. I don't know what came over me but I slid open the glass doors and walked towards the teal pool. Is glistened like diamonds. The water still as glass. I came closer and closer and jumped in. Clothes and all. I hit the water and went under. Instantly submerged I hit the bottom of the pool and jumped back to the surface. Sopping wet. I floated on my back. Water in my ear and I listened to the push and pull of the chlorine bath. Then I heard my name.
Olive, Olive, Olive.
Someone was at the door? I Walked up the ladder and water trailed behind me. I want back into the living room and opened the door. There was Sky. He stood stalk tall. I pushed back wet hair.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"Why are you wet?" He asked, wrinkling his nose.
"I asked first." I crossed my arms.
"Fine." He sighed "I wanted to see you. Really bad." A stupid little smile curled on my lips.
"Why?" I smiled, leaning on the door frame.
"I asked second." He cooed.
"Okay, well I just jumped into the pool. I dunno." I blushed a little.
"You have a pool!" He said, he came a little closer, grinning.
"Huh yeah. I'm leaving this Friday." I said quietly.
Sky frowned a little "that's in four days."
