Sometimes I remember things that I've done, and things others have done to me. There are moments where I still feel shame for what I've done and where I still feel anger for what they have done.
Forgiving and forgetting isn't easy, not at all. Most of the time, it takes years to finally let go of things that have caused bitterness in our hearts.
Isn't it amazing to know that whenever we truly repent to God, and confess and just pour out our hearts and wrongs to Him, that He forgives? And after He forgives us, He forgets the wrongs for which we have repented.
It dumbfounds me even to this day, after spending my whole life in church and been born to an amazing, Christ seeking family.
We are not called to be like other Christians, we are called to be like Christ Himself! Forgiving others and not holding their trespasses against them. Even when it is hard to forgive.
That, my friend, is true forgiveness and love.
