Going into her closet she put on a simple black nightgown and walked out into the bedroom, now only wanting to fall into bed. Switching on the lights that she would be able to switch out from the bed again, she found that her side of the bed was already taken.
"Lindsey!"
Stevie sighed, this was not something she needed right now. She could have lived with finding him laying on her side of the bed, leaving his empty and ready for her to get in. But no, her husband needed to decide that it was so much better to simply lie diagonally in their bed, leaving no room for her. Why does he always do this when I leave him by himself for more than two nights she wondered. Walking through the room, she kneeled on the bed and leaned down.
"Angel." She whispered into his ear, her hand running through his curls. "I'm back."
There was no reaction. Stevie leaned further down, placing a kiss on his shoulder, still no reaction. She suppressed the want to tap her nails against something impatiently, only shaking her head at Lindsey.
"And he always says I'm the one who's difficult to wake up." She muttered.
And finally she was getting some reaction out of him even if it was only that Lindsey turned his head to bury it deeper into her pillow. Still she continued to wake him up gently.
"Lindsey, I'm home and I want to get some sleep." She said softly.
No reaction again. By now she could understand why Sharon had grinned like that at the thought of dumping ice cold water on her. The same thought had just crossed Stevie's mind only to be dismissed immediately for if she did it, she would need to change the sheets and that would further keep her from getting some much needed sleep.
"Oh good god Buckingham, wake up and move your ass over to your side of the damned bed."
When her hand slammed down on the mattress he nearly jumped, leaving her slightly grinning.
"You're awake." Stevie greeted him. "It's about time."
"What do you mean it's about time?" Lindsey asked, now wide awake.
Moving over to his side and holding open the covers so she was able to finally lie down in bed and snuggling under the covers. She felt his arms going around her and being pulled closer to him. Her eyes closed on their own account when she sighed contentedly. It felt good to be at home, good to sleep in her own bed, and oh so good to finally lie in Lindsey's arms again.
"I tried to wake you up for about five minutes." She turned to face him. "And that's all you say? No good morning, no welcome back, no I missed you?"
"Welcome home." He said.
"It's good to be back." Her arms came up to his neck, pulling herself closer to him. "I missed you."
"It's good to have you back, the bed was awfully empty without you."
"So you behaved while I was away?" She teased him.
"You know I do." He placed a kiss on her forehead. "So how was London?"
"It was great, still very much the same since we were over there last time. I had some time to go out and catch up with some friends, go shopping and I even spent some time outside of the city. I visited Christine last week."
"You haven't told me you wanted."
"Well, I had some days off and decided to call her. I actually called her for the first time when arriving in London and then every other day. So she asked me if I had some time to spare and if I wanted to come over." Stevie told him, sleepily. "She's good. I haven't seen her so relaxed since a very long time. So no matter how angry we all were at her for quitting, she did the right thing. She wouldn't be happy now if she was still with us."
