When Stevie and Lindsey had finished the interview it was late in the evening. The early interest of their kids had vanished after about an hour and they had gone their own ways. It had caused their parents to smile, thinking that normality had been back in their home.

They felt good, free, after giving the interview. And both, Stevie and Lindsey, were glad that the truth finally was out. Now they were anxious about the reaction their confession would cause. Especially Stevie was tense, fearing what people would think of her now. She was afraid what they would say when she suddenly turned out to be a mother, but had been hiding, her children, denying she had them. She doubted most people would understand her motives, her want to be able to make it possible for her children to live an as normal life as possible.

But right now Stevie needed to do something different. She had to call Kristen and tell her what happened today. And what would most likely follow the next few days after the interview would be broadcasted.

“I’m gonna call Kristen now.” Stevie announced after dinner was over and the kids were in the living room, watching TV. “I want to give her an early warning.”

She leaned against the counter, looking at Lindsey, who mirrored her, leaning against the opposite counter.

“You don’t look relieved.” He had been observing her ever since the TV crew had finished the interview and left the house. It was as if Stevie would rather be everywhere but where she was right now. “What’s on your mind?”

“I’ll tell you later, okay?” She turned her eyes away from him, looking down. “I’ll call Kristen and then I’d like to have a moment for myself. I need to think about some things.”

“Steph, what...?”

“I’ll tell you, I promise.” I should have told you ages ago Stevie added in her thoughts.

Pushing herself from the kitchen counter, she walked over to Lindsey, taking his face in her hands and pulled him down to her.

“It’s just... the interview had brought up some things I had nearly forgotten, things I had wanted to forget about.” She told him. “I’ll talk to you about this as soon as I finished talking to Kristen.”

Stevie had seen Lindsey wouldn’t take any other answer. And she could see he didn’t like it one bit that she had decided to first call Kristen and then talk to him. He didn’t like the idea of her shutting herself off from him. And she knew it would only make matters worse if she would. Lindsey most likely would be angry at her for not telling him and she knew he would have every right for she hadn’t been truthful to him a very long time ago. And she had also told a lie, yet another one, in the interview.

“I’ll be down in the studio when you’re done.” Lindsey said and pulled her to him. He wanted to know what was weighting so heavy on her mind.

“I’ll head straight down.” Stevie nodded. “I think I’ll need about an hour, at most.”

She kissed him before wiggling out of his arms and made her way to her office.

Reaching for the phone Stevie sat down on her couch, pulling a blanket over her. It wasn’t as if she was cold right now. She just needed the comfort after how the day had turned out to be. Dialing the so familiar number, she tried to clear her mind off everything she didn’t need on her mind right now.

“Hello?”

“Kristen, hi.” Stevie greeted her. “It’s me, Stevie. How are you?”

“You wouldn’t have need to say this.” Kristen laughed. She had recognized the voice immediately. “I’m fine, how are you?”
