“I’m really sorry for this mess.” Stevie said after slipping into the room, interrupting a discussion between Karen and the journalist. “But Lindsey and I had to discuss some important things.”

Catching Karen’s eyes, Stevie just nodded, giving her assistant a sign that this would be the day. And this interview would turn out to be about Lindsey, her and their family.

“What has been going on here?” Was the first thing that Stevie was asked. “And how long has this been going on?”

It was only when Stevie stopped looking directly at Mary that she noticed the camera was directed at her.

“Can you please put the camera out for a moment.” Stevie requested, but it was done in a tone which was not leaving any other options as to follow her request. “You will get an explanation, but first without being taped.” Taking a breath she began. “Lindsey and I have been secretly together since the mid nineties as much for what and how long this had been going on.”

The answer met silence. Everybody who was interviewing her knew about her rocky relationship with Lindsey. So much she assumed for there were always questions about it. But what no one would have ever expected was Stevie actually confessing to be in a relationship with Lindsey still or again.

“What?” was the collective reaction after they had gotten their ability to speak back.

“Mary, can I please talk to you for a moment?” Stevie asked.

“Sure Miss Nicks.” The journalist agreed and followed Stevie out of the room.

“Come in here.” Stevie held the door to her office open. “Please have a seat.”

She pointed to the two couches in front of a massive fireplace.

“First it’s not Miss Nicks since a very long time.” Stevie laughed lightly. “But that’s not really important right now.”

“So what do you want to talk about?” Mary asked, curious.

“The interview. I know it was planned to be different and about my new record and tour, but what had happened today has made Lindsey and I realize that we can’t hide out life anymore. Not even as long as we had actually planned.” Stevie began to explain. “I would not be comfortable to continue this interview as if Stella hadn’t walked into the room and everything had blown up around me.”

“Basically you will stop lying about your life?” Mary stated.

“To put a very long story short, yes, we will stop lying and come out with the truth.” Stevie replied. “I just wanted to give you a short briefing what this interview could turn out to be about if you want the story.”

“Are you seriously asking this question? That is like the hottest story in show business right at the moment. This is gonna be the story of the year.” Mary looked with a confused and disbelieving expression at Stevie. “But why are you deciding to tell the truth now? The confidentiality agreements we had to sign would’ve made it nearly impossible for us to say a word about what has happened today. Your assistant had told us what would’ve happened if we had gone through with the breaking news segment we had planned as soon as you had left to go after... your daughter, I guess?”

“Lindsey’s and my daughter, yes.” Stevie smiled. It felt good to finally being able to talk freely about her family. “Yes, I would never advice anyone to publish anything I don’t approve of when coming here and doing an interview with me.” Stevie explained. “But we had to take precautions if something like this would have happened in the past. And as to why we seem to just have decided to tell the truth right now. We’ve thought and talked about it ever since the show I did on my birthday. But we decided to wait until both of our tours were over.... But sometimes things do change. And after your earlier outburst, I take it you want the rights for an exclusive story?”
