LA to San Francisco October, 08, 2011
As they came closer to the LA airport, Stevie grew more nervous. She was on her way to a two days trip to San Francisco and with her, her girls. Following them was another car, for Stevie had absolutely refused to go to LAX without her bodyguard and one for Lori and Sharon as well. She had even argued with Karen. But since she had been the one who had made the calls, Karen had temporary forgotten about Stevie's wish, accidently of course. Stevie was slightly mad at her because of this, but Karen knew she would calm down as soon as she saw that everything would be only half as dramatic as she had painted the picture.
"God, Stevie you're not still angry at Karen?" Lori asked, annoyed over the silence that greeted them since they had stepped out of the house.
"No, I'm not." Stevie replied before she looked back out of the window.
She was still slightly angry at her assistant for going against her wish, but she also could understand Karen's reasoning. But that didn't mean Stevie didn't want to know everybody save. She was still mad at the boys that they had, jokingly threatened to not play when she would send bodyguards after each and every one of them.
But that wasn't the only reason why she wasn't in a good mood despite going back to San Francisco. She hadn't wanted to leave Will, Leelee and Stella at home. Stevie knew they were in absolutely capable hands, but the thought alone of yet another question of where they were and why she had left them at home made her mad. It wasn't as if she deliberately did this, she wished she could take them with her, knowing they were with her and save, but first they needed to go to school and second she didn't want to drag them through a mob of paparazzi.
"Earth to Stevie..." Karen tried to get to her boss. "I know why you don't want to get out, but you have to if you want to actually catch the flight."
"What?" Stevie looked blankly up.
Seeing her face everybody knew that she had been very deep in her thought and just came back to the real world.
"We're ready to go." Karen told her again. "And everybody's waiting for you."
"Oh, sorry." She muttered.
But looking out of the window, Stevie didn't want to leave anymore. From the mob of people she knew someone else had just arrived as well.
"Come on, let's go, won't get any better." Stevie finally agreed.
Both Karen and Sharon rolled their eyes, while Lori understood her to some degree. But only some. Maybe it was because she wasn't the main focus, but she could understand Stevie's point of view as a mother.
The moment she stepped out, Stevie immediately looked for her bodyguard and hid behind him. But too late, someone had recognized her during the split second she had been visible for the press. And of course some of them let go of whoever they had been around so far and were now coming her way.
"So much for half as dramatic." Stevie hissed at Karen who wasn't leaving her side.
"You can start yelling at the hotel, now put on a smile and get going." Karen told her.
Ignoring the words of her assistant, Stevie threw first a death glare at her and then began to frown at the paparazzi.
They could all hear the now so familiar questions about where Lindsey and their children were. And they all feared, from the look on Stevie's face, the moment she wouldn't be able to bite her tongue anymore. And would begin to snap at someone.
What the "girls" didn't know was that Stevie had sworn to herself that she wouldn't begin to talk with any of the paparazzi. If she would already be on TV and all the magazines, there was no need for negative publicity. And Stevie had a few more people to take into consideration than herself. She needed to think about her husband and children as well.
