Chapter 13- The Duel

I started mentally preparing myself for the duel that I am going to fight in against Adrian. I am so excited. I am sitting underwater now with my new gills that i conjured by weaving a fish head with legs, which is kinda weird, it's like that show on Cartoon Network, The Amazing World of Gumball. I am underwater practising with a merman on how to fight with magic and he says I should concentrate then i can manipulate any magic to curve if my opponent tries to dodge and I end up missing. So I concentrated with the blue flower in my hands and let ice mist come out to attack the merman teacher pers-man. He tried to dodge but I concentrated on hitting him and the ice curved and froze the tip of his tail, slowly crawling up his body and completely freezing him and dropping to the floor. I unfroze him and he smiled and 'clapped'.
"Well done, you managed to do it on your first try, i see you are a fast learner. Now let's try it without your flower"
I almost choked but I didn't because we are underwater and my eyes went wide. I shook my head.
"I can't do that, i will just stick to the flower.''
"Ok, but you don't have to hold the flower, you can wear it, it can take any shape you want it to" He said or thought, Whatever. I smiled and thought about the shape that I wanted it to take. It started to glowed and streams of blue energy came and connected itself to form a big ring to fit around my wrist and the glow faded when it was done. I put it around my wrist and it was so beautiful, it still looked like energy but the flower shrunk a teeny tiny bit to fit the thinness of my arms and it suit me perfectly.
I came out of the water and looked at Adrian to see that he was with a pixie that was annoying him. He was trying to swat it but I put a barrier around it just on time before he could and brought it to me and cupped it in my hands.
"Why was he trying to swat you?" I asked it.
"I asked if I could play with him and he just hit me away, then I got angry and tried to put him to sleep with my pixie dust and cut out his tongue" she said and my jaw drooped.
''Cut his tongue out, maybe that is a bit too harsh, I can help you, just look" I said and pointed my finger at him as a small fire ball shot at his clothes and he caught on fire. The pixie started laughing like there was jingle bells in her throat. He ran around like he was a chicken on fire ... Oh wait, he is. He screamed as he ran into the water coming out wet, soggy and with a frown on his face. I started laughing a hearty laugh until my stomach was sore and my eyes were tearing and I tried to calm myself by taking deep breaths but laughing as I try to calm myself down. Suddenly I couldn't breath and was struggling to get air into my lungs and as I was starting to see black spots and my vision swirling, I could breath. I glared hard at Adrian and tried to tackle him to the ground but he disappeared before I could grab him and I face planted into the ground then the Earth or whatever this world was called swallowed me up and tilted me right-side-up so my head could stick out. When I opened my eyes, I saw Adrian looking down and smirking. Then I started to move to move but not on my own and was being dragged to the lake and got wet and soggy just like him and the only reason I didn't get wet while training with the merteacher was because I cast a spell on myself. I also learnt a few spells. I learnt invisibility, healing, waterproofing, increase in magic power, strength, cold and heat-resistance and changing my features. After a bit of arguing and letting me dry up, we decided to begin our duel.    
We both stood on each side of the field and when we were ready we had to raise our hands.  I closed my eyes and raised my open palms above my head. A golden circle appeared on the floor around me and ancient words circled me.
"Asa, nosa, rinda, alga" I recited the ancient words and felt energy build up inside me. Now I am ready. I raised my hands to signal him. He nodded and we got into a battle stance.
I saw something in his hands and realised it was brown energy and felt the ground rumble. He smirked and raised his right eyebrow and he sank ... Or I was rising, fast. I panicked and did the dumbest thing ever and I jumped off but I was way too high already and I was screaming. Then I made a little circle of air to catch me and I landed on it and jumped up. I raised my hands and the water in the lake came up and I moulded it into a serpent with glowing blue eyes. It narrowed his eyes at Adrian and hissed. He visibly gulped and began to run. It saw him run and slithered after him. He tried to run faster but it was too quick and it picked him up in his mouth and he fell to the middle of it and struggled to get out. Then realisation dawned on him and he had a look of frustration before he bursted into flames and the serpent exploded letting it rain water. He pushed his hand on the ground and an air ball surrounded him and he waved his hands into an arc and wind blades of Air came zooming towards me with a whistle. I ducked and it flew into the tree letting it slice a lane of trees behind me but there were more and I had to jump, duck and swerve to the side but there was one I couldn't dodge and it hit me in the arm but my armour mostly protected me but it made a deep cut. I howled in pain and trained my eyes on him. I took out my tapestry and took the black thread to summon mermen to help me. There was the splashes in the water and three mermen came floating out and stood by my side. I glanced at them all with blue lightning in their eyes, each with messed up hair and six packs but their features were different but still very handsome. I made a square of light in the ground.
I told them to stand or float at each corner with me in one corner to combine our magic attacks into one. One used lightning, the other used fire, air and I used ice and it all glowed and liquefied and moulded into an energy ball that became a light gold and we forced it toward him and his eyes widened and he ducked but we turned it around and it hit him in the back and he flew toward us and landed on his face. I stepped on his back on one foot and put my chest out to show that I won. He looked up and he smiled. He tried to clap but he couldn't move so I stepped off so he could stand up.
"Well done, Skarlett. You actually beat me and your prize is a big bag of" I started to get excited and my smile widened and then he said "nothing" I frowned and he laughed and patted me on my back. I took my tapestry out to get Storm and flew back home without letting Adrian on ... Again.
