Ian
You couldn't believe that you saw (Y/N). You also couldn't believe that she gave you her number. What does this mean? Is there a chance for us? You noticed that she had been holding hands with the guy she walked in with. You also noticed that she was wearing a ring on that special finger. You didn't know if she was engaged, but it sure seemed that way. If she was engaged, why would she give you her number? Is she like friend-zoning you? You went to sleep with these thoughts.

You awoke the next morning at 8:00. As you were getting ready for the day, you contemplated calling her. She must've wanted you to call her soon, right? You thought "What the hell" and decided to call. You were comfortable enough to where if things went badly, you two could just laugh about it all.

"Hey, it's uh...its Ian." You said.

"Hey, I'm glad you called." She said in her loving but not too loving tone. She had this way of speaking that was soft and you could hear the love in her voice but at the same time it was so cold.

"Do you wanna meet up today? If your not too busy." You said, hoping that she'd say yes.

"Yea, I'm not busy at all...Do you wanna meet in Central Park in like an hour?"  She said quickly.

"Uh yea. I mean, of course." You said as you cleared your throat.

"Perfect" She said as she hung up.

You
You didn't know why you agreed to meet Ian. Something just came over you and you couldn't say no. You really hadn't been thinking clearly when you gave Joji your number. You didn't even think he'd actually give it to Ian, but you were really glad he did. You pretended to be sick and got off work early. You went home and dolled yourself up. You wanted to look good for him but you didn't know why. You felt the need to impress him. You put on another coat of mascara, touched up your foundation, made sure you weren't greasy, and brushed your straight hair. You put on a little perfume and kept on your same clothes. You didn't want to look too good though. You didn't want it to look like you were trying to impress him.
You took a deep breath and walked out the door. Central Park was pretty close. You didn't want to seem too early so you bought some coffee and took your time walking.

Ian
You had to admit that you were excited to see her. You didn't know what you two would talk about but talking to her at all was pretty great. You wanted to look good for her. You wanted to impress her. You put on a blue button up and black pants. You then fixed your hair and put on some cologne. You walked out the door and went to the subway station. You didn't really know your way around the city but you were smart enough to figure it out.

You finally got to Central Park. You had no idea that it was so big. Luckily she was sitting on a bench close to the entrance. You had to take a couple minutes to just stare at her. She was just drinking coffee and sitting there. She was so perfect and relaxed. You took a deep breath before walking towards her. She looked over at you and gave you a look that just melted your heart. You sat down next to her and gave her a smile.

"Hey, I'm glad you found your way here. I know this city can be confusing." She said with a little laugh.

"Yea. It's very confusing, but I managed."

Neither of you knew what to say. Until you blurted out,

"Are you engaged?" You said as you gestured towards her hand.

"Yea" The smile disappeared from her face as she spoke. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you earlier."

"No, don't be sorry. I mean it's your life. You deserve to be happy." You said trying to sound has happy for her as you could.

"Well you deserve to be happy too." She said in a sad tone.

After a few minutes you said, "Look (Y/N), I'm sorry that it didn't work out between us."

"Don't be sorry. It just didn't work, I guess."

"Do you remember why we even broke up?"

"No, not really." She said with a laugh.

"Yea, me either."

"It was kinda like one day we were together and then the next day we weren't."

"Yea, it was so weird." You said.

"It feels like everything was so clear and then it got blurry, and it's never been clear since...That was a bad metaphor, but you know what I mean."

"No, it was the perfect metaphor. I know exactly what you mean."

After a few minutes of awkward silence, she asked,

"How long are you here for?"

"A month. We're going to film some videos and hang out and stuff."

"Seems fun."

"Yea...Hey, do you remember the time we went to Australia?" You didn't know why you asked this, the memory sorta just popped into your head.

"Oh my god, I almost forgot. We got so drunk with Max and Katt, that we couldn't even walk." She said while laughing.

"Yea, I don't think I've drank that heavily since."

"I've forgotten all the fun times we've had together"

"Wow. Thanks." You said.

"No. It was just too sad to think about."

"Should these good memories bring you joy?" You asked.

"Well yea they should, but when I start thinking about how happy we were, it just makes me sad."

"Yea, I get it. It's sad that we'll never get back to that place, I guess." You immediately regretted what you said. You hoped she didn't take it the wrong way. Before she could even respond, her phone rang.

"I'm sorry, can you hold on for a sec?" She said while walking away.
You couldn't hear the other side of the conversation but you had a pretty good idea of what it was about by listening to her responses.

"Hello?"
"I'm sick, I went home."
"Well I didn't think it was a big deal. I just went home."
"No, don't come home. Just eat lunch by yourself. Really I'm fine. I'm feeling pretty sick."
"No, I'm not pregnant. Jesus Christ, Jason."
"Ok. I'll see you when you get home."
"You too, bye"

She quickly walked back and say on the bench.

"Is everything ok?" You asked.

"Yea everything is fine. I should probably go, though."

"No, yea, of course. I should go too."

"We should meet up again before you leave." You were so glad she said this.

"Yea, we really should."

You two walked out of the park together and before you parted ways, you hugged. You held on tight to each other. After a few seconds too long, you let go and went your separate ways.
