Jonathan and I timed getting back into town perfectly. I was able to easily tell my parents that I was with Barb. Mom easily believed me and dad, well- Dad just doesn't really pay attention that much.
Mike and the rest of the gang quickly caught me up on the whole El thing. She refused to seek help from our mom, so our only option was to keep hiding her in our basement. Dustin told me that Eleven has the ability to move things with her mind. The boys all rushed to tell me about what happened up in Mike's room and I barely understood them.
The things I did hear was that Eleven knows about Will. I guess she pointed to him in a picture up in Mike's room and, now, the boys are convinced that Eleven has some sort of idea where Will is.
All of this sounded, like, some sci-fi movie that Mike would want to go see in the theaters. I don't quite understand how Eleven would be able to move things with her mind. I don't really think something like that is possible. At least, I thought it was impossible until the boys all dragged me to Mike's room and had Eleven show me what she could do.
Eleven only stared at the walkie-talkie and then it lifted in the air. I honestly thought I was imagining things. First, Will goes missing and then, we find Eleven in the woods and she's has the ability to move things with her mind.
All of these thoughts were swirling around in my mind at the dinner table. The boys were thinking the same thing, the way that none of them spoke and only shared sly looks with each other and myself
"Something wrong with the meatloaf?" Mom asks from the head of the table. She must have picked up on our looks and pushing the food around on our plates.
Our heads snap up at her voice.
Dustin stops his fork in mid air to his mouth. "Oh, no. I had two bologna sandwiches for lunch." He pauses for a second before quickly adding, "I don't know why."
Lucas slides on a slick smile on his face, "Me too."
I narrow my eyes at the two boys. They are being too obvious right now. We need to all calm down a bit. If mom finds out we are hiding a random girl, who has the power of telekinesis, we are all screwed.
"It's delicious, Mommy." Nancy sweetly smiles.
I wrinkle my nose at her overload of sweetness. Her voice sounded, like, pure sugar.
"Thank you, sweetie." Mom acknowledges her.
Nancy shoots me a look as if to tell me not to screw this up for her. She turns her head back towards Mom while messing with her food. "So, there's this special assembly thing tonight for Will at the school field. Barb's driving."
Of course. She's using the school assembly tonight as her excuse to go to Steve's party. I roll my eyes and stuff my mouth full of meatloaf.
Mom cuts a piece of her meatloaf. "Why am I just hearing about this?"
"I thought you knew." Nancy calmly responds. She knows if she watches her tone and what she says, she will have a better chance of saying yes.
"I told you, I don't want you out after dark until Will is found." Mom sets her wrists against the table.
Nancy looks away from her food. "I know, I know, but it'd be super weird if I'm not there. I mean, everyone's going."
Mom sighs, "Just- Be back by ten." She nods to Nancy. Her fork with a piece of meatloaf on it points towards the other end of the table. "Why don't you take Reagan and the boys, too?"
"No!" Mike, Lucas, and Dustin all shout while shaking their heads,
"What?" I nearly choke on a green bean.
