Chapter 5: Dealing with the Devil

One Year Later

layla's POV

"Good news the doctors said we can let you out!" My mom said hugging me.

"That's great can I go home today?"

"That's our plan. So get all of your stuff and say your goodbyes, we are leaving in an hour," she said calmly with her hand on my shoulder. I looked around the room and found Jason.

I went up to him and said,"Jason I'm leaving this place in an hour."

"That's great!"

"Why?" I said confused.

"Well I'm leaving today as well. But since you're leaving that means that you won't be lonely here."

"Oh isn't that ironic?"

"Yeah I guess so," he said after kissing me then pulled me into a hug.

"Bye baby," I whispered in his ear before he pulled away from the hug. He did a slight wave and I returned it. After that we parted our separate ways.

During the car ride, I was pretty quiet considering that I was sleeping. Once we got home I rushed to my room and fell onto my bed. After about an hour and a half nap, I unpacked my few books and clothes then went downstairs and smelt the delicious smell of my mom's homemade ribs. Once he saw me, Mike ran over to me and gave me a big hug. When he let go I let out a big breath that I didn't know I was saving. Dinner was a little awkward.

My dad kept asking why I started drinking. Ugh. At first I thought he was just worried and would stop soon enough. But he didn't even after I glared at him. "Honey if you just answer me I'll stop asking."

"Because I just needed a way to get rid of all my problems! Such as my boyfriend left without letting me know. Or how my best friend went missing!" I then got up, ran upstairs to my room and locked my door right after.

Someone knocked,"layla please open up!" It was my mom. She hugged me when I opened the door and said,"Do you want to talk? Please!" She sounded so desperate, so I just mumbled a 'Sure'. I told her almost everything. Besides all the 'A' stuff.

"Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

"I don't know, but are you mad at me?"

"No. No, of course not I'm just a little sad that you didn't tell me before we sent you to rehab."

"I'm sorry mom," stated with my head down.

"You have nothing to be sorry about," she lifted my chin up,"I better go. You need some sleep because tomorrow we're going shopping!" She then kissed my forehead and closed my door. I sat still in bed remembering a time with just me, Ali, and Aria.

*Flashback*

We were running away from Mona/Loser Mona. She had always been so annoying. Once we were out of breath we stopped in front of a car parked under a tree with a man and a woman in it.

"Hey isn't that your dad's car?"

"Yeah," Aria and I said in unison.

"Who's that?" Aria questioned while slightly pointing at her.

"I dunno," I said still staring at the blonde in the car.

"Come on let's just go another way," Alison, who obviously didn't want to be in this situation, said.

"Wait they're both leaning in and he-"

"Just kissed her!" Aria interrupted. Our dad turned around and saw us just standing there, tears beginning to form in our eyes. When the blonde turned around as well, I flipped both of them off and walked away with the other two.

*End of Flashback*

After we got home from the mall, I texted Jason.

layla: can I come over👏🏽

Jason: sure what time

layla: right now

Jason: okay

Once I got there, Jason immediately opened the door and I attacked him with a hug.

"Well hello to you too!" He said with a slight chuckle.

"So what do you wanna do?"

"Philly?"

"Sure. Wanna go to the lake. You only have a week left until school starts."

"Ugh don't remind me. Let's go!" I skipped to his car and said,"Can you take me to my house really quick I'm gonna grab some clothes."

"Ok." Once we got there, I wrote a note 'Gonna be in Philly w/ Jason for a few days -layla'. Then I went upstairs and put some clothes and my stuff in a bag. I grabbed a snack for Jason and I then we were off. In the car we played 'Never have I ever'.

"Never have I ever kissed a girl," I said then Jason looked at me weirdly.

"Never have I ever met someone as beautiful as you," Jason said smiling then looking over at me.

I giggled a little bit. "And I have never met someone as handsome as you!"

He gave me a little kiss then told me,"Take a little nap so you can stay up longer," he then winked and I chuckled.

"Ok mom," I then proceeded to fall asleep smiling.
