"Dan the man!"

"How many people want to talk to me today!" Dan snaps as he turns towards his old friend Chris. "What the hell do you want Chris?"

"Whoa sorry mate, didn't know you were on your man period." Chris jokes, although he's the only one of them that smiles. He soon sighs as he knows his jokes won't work on Dan. "Anyway, I just want to say thanks for sending Phil to our table today. That was- that was really nice of you Dan. Thank you."

"Yeah whatever, it was just to get him off my tail." Dan shrugs.

"Sure. I think you're having a change of heart Danny boy." Chris smiles and playfully punches Dan's shoulder.

Dan almost laughs at what Chris said it was so funny to him.  "That's funny Chris, I can see you've been working on your jokes."

"Dan I'm serious, that was really nice of you. That was something the Dan I know would do."

"Whatever." Dan turns around and walks away from his old friend.

He walks onto the bus and sits next to Pj. He immediately gets on his phone and pops his ear buds in his ears to avoid any conversation with him. The bus ride seems short and Dan has to hold himself back from running off the bus.

He steps foot off the bus and briskly starts to walk away, going to fast would result in exercise and his heart beating. Dan walks up to his front door and opens it up. "Mum! I'm home!" He calls into the house. His dad is never home when he arrives, he always gets home late because of work.

"Daniel!" His mum bounds down the stairs, her hair is messy and she's still in her pyjamas. "Poor Marita has caught the stomach bug so I had to stay home from work. She should be good to visit just call me if she barfs." His mum sighs and gives Dan a small welcoming hug.

"Alright, will do." Dan walks past his mum and jogs up the stairs to Rita's room.

"Knock knock." He calls softly into her room. His sister looks over at him and her eyes shine when he sees him.

"Danny!" Her skin is pale and she defiantly looks like she's been puking. Her brother walks over to her bed and plops his bag down on the floor.

"How are you feeling sweetheart?" Dan asks as he lays down next to her, trying not to shake the bed to much and make her sick.

"Like poo." She pouts, holding tightly onto the plastic bucket in her arms. Dan wraps his arm around his little sister. It hurts him to see her sick and unwell, so when ever she's under the weather Dan does everything I'm his power to make him feel better.

"Sorry to hear that sunshine. But you'll get better soon, it'll only last a few days."

"A few days?"  She pouts again and stares at the laptop screen which is playing some of her favorite cartoons.

"Sorry darling, but that's how it works. You'll get better though, then we'll be able to play video games and you can be beaten by me in Mario Kart." Dan teases with a smile.

"Yeah right, I always beat you!" She sticks her tongue out at him.

"You're correct, you always beat me. I'll never be as good as you." Honestly, Dan was better than Marita at all the games they had because he's been playing them since before she was born. He wouldn't tell her that though, he'd just wait until she was old enough to challenge Dan to go all out. "I love you Ri-Ri." He kisses her cheek.

"Love you to Danny." Her face turns green and she leans over to barf into her bucket.

"Mum! Marita barfed!" He yells as he pats his sister's back lightly. The smell is disgusting but Dan tries to ignore that and focus on his sister. "I'm sorry you're sick. Do you need me to get you anything?" She shakes her head as she barfs again.
