Pete Wentz looked at himself in the mirror. Today was the day nobody was looking forward to. He pulled himself off of his bed and dragged himself to the door. No matter how much he didn't want to go- he needed to.

As he made his way out the door he made sure to lock it. Sometimes he would forget to lock it, he's forgotten a lot lately.

He made his way to a small church just outside of the town Mikey lived in. He opened the door and saw everyone who knew Mikey. Family, friends, acquaintances, anybody you could think of was there.

"Gerard, how are you," Pete asked a bit hesitant. Gerard looked like a mess, like he's been crying, but who can really blame him.

"He was all I had left," Gerard whispered robotically. His eyes were red and puffy.

"I know, if you need anything we're here. Me, Frank, Ray, hell I'm sure even Tom is willing to help out," Pete whispered sympathetically.

"You know Pete, you're not as bad as I thought you were. Mikey chose well,"

"Thank you," Pete said and walked away. He greeted a few people, but wasn't in the mood for making conversation.

He tried, but he couldn't bring himself to go see Mikey. He felt weak. Everybody else seemed to be able to do it, why couldn't he?

Pete silently made his way across the church. He had his head kept down and a frown on his face. He stopped when he finally reached the casket.

"Mikey," Pete started but already had tears building in his eyes. "I'm not good with goodbyes because I don't believe in them. I just wanna say I'm sorry. I'm sorry I wasn't there when you needed me," Pete said as he leaned down and kissed Mikey's forehead. "I'll still always love you,"

The funeral they had for Mikey wasn't nearly as exotic as the one in the Helena music video. There was no singing, dancing, and not as much of an emo vibe. The one main difference between the music video and now; was this was real life.

As the hours passed on, the tears subsided and more conversation grew. People were talking about the memories that they remember with Mikey. Funny ones, happy ones, meaningful ones, all of them.

"I remember one time he and I went to this zombie thing and met two teenage girls. Some guy shot him with the paintball gun claiming he 'looked like a zombie," and he apologized!" Pete said laughing. He remembered that memory vividly.

"One time when we were little, I told him about this dream I had where one of my stuffed dogs but off my finger. I told him about it and he spent the whole day scolding the dog," Gerard said chucked at that memory.

More stories were told and tears were shed. People laughed and people cried. That's how funerals worked. Life wasn't fair and had to take the good people instead of the bad. They all understood that.

People were now giving eulogies, but none of them understood like Pete did. They didn't know the hours Mikey spent crying at Petes. They didn't understand how much Mikey hated himself because of this. They don't care that he spent his whole life trying to make others happy.

Soon It was Petes turn to talk. He stood up nervously and walked to where the casket lay. Awkwardly clearing his throat, he began to read the smudged writing on the paper in front of him.

"Mikey Way... What can I even say about him. He was the most selfless person I have ever came to know. He did things for other people, including ones who weren't the kindest to him. This is one of the many traits that made me- and the whole world fall in love with him. After finding out you cl have cancer, it can make you rethink a lot of things you've done. He didn't let that change anything about him, and I admire him for that. He was still the same Michael Way I fell in love with. I'm not good with words, but I just want to say- Mikey Way did not deserve this," Pete finished.

He couldn't stand to be around the people anymore. He ran out the door with tears streaming down his face. He found a tree and broke down right next to it. Why couldn't life be fair?

Cause the hardest part of this is leaving you...
