Boy who found desire itself,

Logically I know what it was. I understand what it does. The Mirror of Erised. "Erised stra ehru oyt ube cafru oyt on wohsi". I show not your face but your heart's desire... The mirror shows the most desperate desire of a person's heart, a vision that has been known to drive men.

This mirror brings more harm than good; it's whispered that many wasted their lives before the mirror, losing track of reality as they were deluded by what they saw. To the point where accepting that what they saw was not real was too much. Too much to see your heart's deepest desire and not reach it.

You once again cornered me, appearing out of nowhere as if you were invisible. I was hidden away in an alcove when I felt something take my hand. And the next thing I knew I was staring into those green eyes. You had taken me to show me your parents...but that was impossible. They died the night mine did, a little poetic. But who I saw in that mirror was not yours I was never going to be able to see the Potters. But mine....

I recognized my mother. I did not recognize the man beside her. His face was blurry his features glitching in and out of focus. He was tall, with long black hair and what I was sure were striking grey eyes. He looked a lot like Cetus from what I saw, but who he is, I do not know. Harry, she was so beautiful; I wonder where she got her looks because Aunt Victoria resembles a muggles old witch. She had light blue eyes like Cetus, and we share the same tan skin, but there are tiny differences. I noticed that the man standing next to her...we shared identical eyes and his smile. In the moments it was clear, that it was mine.

A part of me wishes I never saw it. Because now I know that he existed, and there has to be a reason no one has ever uttered his name. Why I have never seen a photograph of his face. The Mirror of Erised is dangerous. Because once you realize you have some sort of access to the one thing you want most you'll never want to leave. It'll drive you mad.

Regardless, Happy Christmas Harry, thank you for this.

From,
