She drew a sharp breath as she was enveloped with absinthe green. Her vision was momentarily gone as the brightness from the spell left the end of the caster's wand. Immediately she felt the venom travel through her veins, burning her from the inside out.
Attempting to step towards a bassinet, she felt herself falling. The distant sound of an infant rang in her ears. Arabella was startled awake as she hit the wooden floor, only for her wide grey eyes to see the dim-lit dorm around her. The room lay silent beside the soft lapping of the black lake against the windows and gentle breathing greeting her panicked breaths.
Her hands firmly gripped the satin sheets around her as she tried to calm the shaking. Her eyes darted over to Roan Ply, and then Daphne Greengrass before she moved to get out of bed. Grabbing her silk night robe, she pulled it quickly over her shoulders before slipping out of the room. Her heart beat violently in her eardrums as she hurried down the stairs and out of the Slytherin Common room. Shaking her hands out briefly, she quickened her pace as she left the dungeons, her eyes wide for any sign of Filch. But, with the time being 3 a.m., he normally took a trip for coffee. So, at least that was one thing that eased her mind. But it didn't last long, a shiver ran through her, the green light flashing in the back of her mind.
"You're okay." she whispered to herself as she ran up the spiral staircase, "You're okay." as she approached the painting, she stood before it for a moment. Pondering if this was the right move. It was 3 am. But he'd understand, wouldn't he? No, he won't. We haven't spoken in a month... Swallowing the lump in her throat she stared intensely at the painting her eyes closed as she stifled a sob. Growing angry with herself Arabella turned away from the Fat Lady her hands still firmly gripped onto her robe, but she stopped in her tracks. Her body shook as she tried to regain some sort of control over herself in front of Gryffindor Tower. Her jaw grinding together as she threw her head back letting out a shaky laugh.
"Ellie?" she snapped around, her eyes wide as they met a face full of freckles. No. Arabella froze shellshocked to see the tall boy standing in the open doorway to the Gryffindor Common room. His eyes were red and shadow touched, his whole appearance disheveled. He looked rough, to say the least. Clutched in his left hand was a piece of parchment paper, but she only caught a brief look as she had already turned away to hide herself. Just as she was about to move away she felt a hand grab onto her wrist, stopping her. "Ellie please," he whispered.
"I'm terribly sorry. I shouldn't have come here," she spoke harshly pulling her arm away without even glancing at him. "Don't get the wrong impression. Please stay away from me." with that, she quickly escaped Fred's voice calling after her.
