Chapter 8: Fight! Fight! Fight! Part 3
The battle had been going on for nearly an hour now. Naomi was still fighting the two girls, but their two male teammates had decided to join the fun. Naomi remained silent as she was attacked from every angle.
"Now, now. It isn't nice to gang up on people." Naomi smirked at the voice that had spoken. As she looked around, she saw three copies of herself, all smiling.
"About time." Naomi (the real one) said, as she jumped back to aviod the earth spikes. The other team had planned their attack perfectly. In the air, it was harder to dodge and block attacks. The three others, aimed their attacks for Naomi, who had jumped to aviod the first attack.
Naomi was the only one to notice the slight shift in the air. Before the attacks hit their target, something rammed into the other team, knocking them down. The same force came back around to stand beside Naomi. "Took you long enough." Naomi had her hand out and the three other Naomi went after the downed team.
Snapping off the illusion , Shira grinned at the outcome of their plan. "Do you know how difficult it is to weave one illusion, while using another?" Her voice was slightly annoyed, but her smirk said otherwise. She looked around at the three Naomis going after the three fallen team members, the fourth running to help them. "Shall we end this?" Shira grabbed her newly forged katana. Not waiting for a reply, she ran off happy to finally have an active role.
Her target was the earth elementist who had stabbed 'her' earlier. Her katana came down with a wosh. Before making contact with his neck, an earth pillar rose from the ground, taking the attack for him. "You should be squash cheese." He was shaken, seeing Shira whole and not filled with holes.
Shira continued her attack, putting all of her energy into her sword until the pillar finally broke. She pushed forward towards him. "Silly boy. As an elementist, you should've been the first to notice the energy shift around me." The boy dodged and ducked the on coming blade, Shira never once let up. "I'm an illusionist. Faking taking an attack is basic strategy for us." Shira pulled back.
Naomi's copies slowly pushed the other team into the arena's center. Naomi herself, stood in the middle with nagatina in hand, she channeled some of her energy into the weapon. "Hurry up, Shira." Naomi glanced around until she found Shira locked in battle still with the earth elementist. Naomi shook her head, Shira was devaitating from the plan. Sometimes she was just as bad as Izumi when it came to fighting. The thtill of battle meant more than actually winning. Naomi could understand that, a good battle is hard to come by. But sometimes that had to be put aside for the greater goal.
"Don't rush me." Shira called, "You've been having all the fun, now it's my turn." Parrying one attack, Shira used that monument to spin her body as she kicked her attacker in the stomache.
Naomi shook her head, content to let her friend do what she wants. Everything was already set up, either one of them could activate it at any time. Meanwhile, the Naomi copies weren't fighting back, just dodging and pushing the other team enough to get them to move where Naomi and Shira needed them to be.
Finally, Shira slammed the hilt of her katana into the wirst of her opponent. In pain, he clutched his broken wrist. Shira yanked him down by his jacket, before headbutting him. With one swift kick to the knee, he went down. "I'm done over here." Shira called. She tossed the lump dazed form of her opponent into the center. "How are 'you' doing?"
Naomi rolled her eyes, "'We're' just about done." On que, the other three team members took the last few steps and were now about five feet about away from Naomi and Shira.
"Yay! I've been waiting to do this!" Shira cheered as she shoved her katana into the air like a pompom. "On 3." She smiled like a happy child at Naomi, energy surging around her.
"1.." Naomi started.
"2..." Shira contuined.
"3!" The two freinds released their built up energy at the same time. Sparks and bright light flowed up from the center of the arena. The audience looked on in wonder. What could it be? Some kind of grand illusion? No, just a cage.
Naomi and Shira high fived each other as they walked through the illusion.
"Close your mouth if you don't want flies to fly in." Izumi crossed her arms and nodded in approval of her friends. "Well miss announcer? I believe the match is over."
Stumped like everyone else, the announcer shook herself out of her confusion. She carefully looked over the arena. Naomi and Shira stood outside of the cage, the other team tried to break free. "Ladies, gents, and guardians." The announcer's face appeared on the jumbo screens that lined the arena walls. "First round goes to the first years!"
"How!?" Mellie stomped over. "They didn't subdo or knockout my team. Their all still very much awake and able of fighting. This is just some cheap trick!"
"Stop whining." The announcer snapped. "This whole time you've been complaining and whining. My ears would be crying if they could." This was boardcast to the audience and everyone at home as well. Smiling, the announcer handed the mic over to Izumi. "Care to tell us how your team managed this win?"
"Gladly." Izumi winked into the camera. "To start, my teammates actually changed our oringal plan without me." She gave a pointed look, then smiled. "The basic idea was to separate the other team. Two on one. Our goal was to never 'out muscle', but outsmart. A long drawn out battle would've been to risky. So my friends were to engage in battle, but never fight back. Girls."
The camera link switched over to a close up of Naomi and Shira in the arena. "Izumi's right." Shira explained. "We did change part of the plan without telling her. Naomi was to wear them out, while I was 'injuried'. By faking my injuries, no one thought about me. This allowed me to weave this cage illusion unnoticed, since I hide myself within another illusion. The Naomi copies were made on a whim."
"The cage illuison was set up in the center. Their trapped and can't get out. In other words, we subdoed them." Naomi announced.
The camera switched back the excited annoucer"And that's the end of the first round! Next up, round two!"
