Chapter 12: Canceled Plans! Time to Attack!
"Where's GUARD?" Izumi asked as she stood beside her friends, bow and arrows in hand ready for a fight. All around them, people pushed and sheirked as the hawk shadow circled the sky and the shadow wolf stalked closer down the street.
Shira held a hand out, energy shimmer around her as the world became blurry and distant. With a flick of her wirst, energy shot out like a bullet to engulf the surrounding area. Anything inside, would only see the surrounding area and nothing else. "I've blinded everyone linked to my energy signal and anything that gives off negative energy. Those shadows will only target us." Shira knew this was risky, making them the sole targets. One shadow was differcult enough for academy students, two for a team of first years was unheard of. "Your call."
Naomi took a step forward, it was all on her. The girls had long ago agreed for Naomi to lead their team. While Shira was their distraction and tactication, Izumi was...well Izumi. Izumi was the snipper and muscle, the heavy hitter. Being the youngest, it logically made no sense for her to lead the team. But Izumi and Shira had faith in her. Plus Naomi having trained, she thought herself to step outside of the normal limits of a gurad class, at a young age. It was pretty common for different classes of guardians to teach themselves to step outside of their classes and expand their powers. But this took years of training and could only be down once one had mastered their primary and sometimes secondary classes. Naomi did this in less then half the time. Naomi knew how to look at things from different angles, once she stopped thinking like a standard guard class and started thinking like Naomi. Her unquie way of thinking makes her perfect to lead a team. At the same time, it added more pressure to her.
Naomi thought it was funny how they didn't even have to 'chat' about whether or not they were going to take on two shadows. They've fought them before, but that was during a controlled field training. "Naomi!" Shira trackled Naomi to the ground as the hawk shadow dived down. Izumi released three arrows from her quiver, they found their mark before bouncing off. Izumi dashed over to her friends. "My arrows won't work." They knew what that meant, Izumi was still recovering from yesturday and was to weak to infuse energy into her arrows. "I was suppose to get my jeweled arrows today, but the shippment got held up." Izumi punched her fist threw a wall. Now was the one time she needed those jeweled arrows, arrows reinforced with several kinds of gems. They were more powerful then the standard ones Izumi and other academy students used during their elementary and middle grade years.
"Your kunai will have to do." Was all Naomi said. She knew that a weak Izumi would couldn't infuse energy into arrows, couldn't use any energy arrows. Let alone have given her kuani enough enegry to summon strong earth golems. If she was right, it was going to take three to five kunai just to summon one earth golem. Naomi sighed, she really wanted to figure out a plan that didn't involve using air elements. Since air was her main class and in her family bloodline, Izumi could still summon the wind. If an element runs in the family bloodline, meaning every single person is born with it no matter what, then one could always use their element even when completely out of energy. It just meant pulling more strain on the human body, their air would be weakened, and they could only use the very basic. Izumi could do this, she'd only be able to keep going until she either passed out or get knocked out.
"That hawk shadow is coming again!" Shira cried.
Izumi went into action, she poured all of the newly aborsbed earth energy from four of the kuani the fifth one. Letting it drop to the earth for several moments to bond with it. Izumi scooped the kuani into hand, taking aim she let her kunai fly from the arrow it was now tied to. The arrow flew true, embedding itself into the underbelly of the hawk. "That'll only buy us a short window. There wasn't much earth energy or earth in that arrow. A golem will form, but it won't have much earth or energy to keep from crumbling under the weight of negative energy."
"Shira, distract it." Naomi commanded. "Keep up the first illiuson, but trick the shadow hawk into thinking where somewhere else nearby. It'll split it's attacks between 'us' and that golem."
Nodding, Shira closed her eyes. She pictured herself as the shadow hawk. Three weak prey below, no six no three.
Naomi turned to Izumi, "Take my hand." She waited for Izumi take her hand. "Don't be a baby." Impatient, Naomi jerked Izumi's hand into her own. Izumi pulled and squirmed in her friend's grip, trying to break free. Her body jolted with a paralyzing shock, as a wave of warmth coursed through her body. Wobbly and weak, Izumi was finally freed. "There, now you should have some energy."
"You did a transfer!?" Izumi shook her head at the risky technique her friend had just used. "Are you crazy!" Izumi snatched the other girl by her arm, forcing her to look at Izumi. "Well?"
Naomi yanked her arm back as she stepped back from Izumi. "I'm a guard class." Was all she said before looking back at Shira. "Guards are livings shields." Naomi bitterly spat the words out, as her grip tighten on her weapon.
"Why you going around saying lies?" Finished her task, Shira came up from behind to smack Naomi upside the head with the hilt of her sword. "You know that's a lie! Would a living 'shield' have skipped two years?" She smacked Naomi again, "Now go led us, I wanna get some food."
Naomi shook her head, the thobbing pain helping to calm her. She knew if she went back to thinking like a guard, she'd put herself and her friends in danger. "Than lets go." She smirked, as she sprinted for the shadow wolf, excited for a workout.
