Chapter 15:

Naomi held the barrier for as long as she could. Even with the added benfit of guard protection energy, she could barely keep the liger at bay. "Izumi!" She shouted, wanting her friend to stop staring and be useful. They needed to grab Shira before they could escape. One of them was going to be weight down while carrying her, which would leave the other one to protect all three of them. Izumi's arrows would be a benfit because of the range, but Naomi didn't think she could carry Shira and run. If Izumi was to carry the girl, Naomi would have to continously create barriers and sheilds to protect them. She leaving to fin off either shadows or dusk would leave the other two open to attack. "Grab Shira!"

"Right." Izumi placed her bow on her back as she dashed into the building. How Naomi almost wished Sayuri was here. Her healer class cousin could effortlessly created barriers and she could heal some of Shira wounds. At the same time, Naomi never wanted Sayuri to know the true dangers of being a guardian. Healers were sometimes needed in the field, but they were always well protected. But gentle Sayuri was unlike most healers. Healers, like all guradians, were required to learn how to fight and use their powers both offesive and defensively. Sayuri only did what was required, nothing more. While her friends and teammates, Umi and Saki, would do extra training. Sayuri spent her extra time learning more about healing and the different uses for energy. Naomi hoped Izumi would remember to apply some kind of quick aid to Shira. The last thing they needed was for Shira to bleed out as they moved her.

Naomi glanced behind her to notice Izumi was gone. She gave a bigger from at the irony. Had Izumi listened earlier, they wouldn't be in this desperate situation.

She could hear Izumi's panicked voice. "How do I stop the bleeding!? There' so much blood!"

Naomi rolled her eyes, "Don't you remember anything from class? Use your energy to form a protective lay over her skin. And hurry!" Her own energy was about to give out, the sheild required to much power to maintain. Naomi was beginning to painic, her powers shouldn't be wearing down so quickly, espically with Shira injuried and the three of them in danger!

The liger batted and clawed at her barrier. The beast's head could barely be seen over the dark fog covering it. "Izumi!"

Izumi couldn't stop shaking. Shira was laying on the ground defenseless and injuried. "What were the words?" She wised she'd paid more attention in class now. Normally, all guardians could form barriers with chants, by skill and force of will like Naomi had. Most guradians, however, required the chants to assist them. Different guradians and classes foucs on improving different skills. Which meant that certain basic skills all guradians could do (with some extra training and effort) were often negacted.

"Spinning wind, pin!" Izumi cringed as she spoke the chant. Not the best chant, but the only one she could think of at the moment. Wind energy formed in her hands, before travels over Shira's body. The energy molded itself onto Shira's body, stopping the bleeding. "Finally." Izumi reshealted Shira katana, before she placed the girl onto her back. "Naomi! I've got her!"

"Go! I'll catch up!" The barrier shattered, knocking Naomi to the ground. A feirce roar prieced her ears, as Naomi tried to shield herself from the liger's next attack. The nagitana was her only defense against the liger's clawed. Naomi used her energy to push the liger back, allowing her to scramble to her feet. Naomi didn't look back as she dashed into the building after Izumi. She quickly found the wind elementals heading towards the back of the building.

"We can't go out there." Izumi ducked into a corner, hiding from the shadow wolf the lorcked there. "We're trapped."

Naomi peaked around the corner, to see the shadow wolf. "Is there a mirror around? We might be able to contact Mizu or get a portal out of here."

"We'll need one big enough for all of use to fit through." Izumi said. "Will out compacts even work?"

Looking around, Naomi show another door. "Let's hide in the basement for now." Pointing to the door, she allowed Izumi to go first before following. Once in the basement, Naomi closed the door and stealed it with energy. It would hopefully hide them from the creatures outside. She won't be surpised if the upper levels were destoryed. Shadows and Dusk were among the stronger creatures that roamed the outter lands. These were a few of the many creatures Guradians were trained to battle.

"How is Shira?" Finished with the door, Naomi went over to join Izumi. Shira's face and body were pale, a sign energy was flowing towards the wound to heal her. "Do you know any healing abilties?" Both Naomi and Shira had opted out of taking healing classes. While all guradians could be taught to heal like healers could, for other guradians it was harder. Naomi wanted to use the time to develop her fighting and energy conrtroll stills. Shira used the time to continue her improving her illisons.

Izumi nodded, "Not much, you know I never pay attention in class." Unlike the others, Izumi had been forced to take a healing class by her mother. As the next head of her family, Izumi had to be well verused in many areas. From a young age, she'd been taught how to use fire, water, and earth elementary in addition to her natrual wind elementary. Not that Izumi remembered many of these lessons. She'd always been more interested in wind elementary and archery.

Naomi went to find supplies they could use to treat Shira. Izumi took a moment to center herself. She placed both hands on the ground, using her connection to the earth to help calm her. Filling the calming aura of the earth surround her, Izumi felt ready. Placing both hands above Shira's back, she inversioned her energy flowing into Shira.

Naomi couldn't find much, but food and cleaning supplies in the basement. Nothing that could help the treat Shira. Shadow and Dusk wounds required specific medience or gems for treatment. Everything she found would be useful for treating normal wounds.

With nothing else to do, Naomi took out her compact. "Mizu?" She tried contacting Mizu or the school. The compact's screen remained blank. They really were on their own.
