The officer stepped up to Micheal's window with a flashlight in hand. "License and registration," he ordered, shining the light in both of our faces. As Mikey went to hand him the papers, the officer stared at us through his sunglasses. "Actually, I'll need you both to get out of the car."

I tried to keep my poker face on as best as I could. Mikey glanced over at me as he unbuckled himself and got out of the car. I followed around the front of the car to where Mikey stood. The officer stood before us, flashing the light in both of our faces once again.

"Did we do something, officer?" Mikey asked.

"Did you know this girl went missing about a week ago?" he questioned, shining the light around my face. I squinted my eyes and shied away from the light. "She's been noted as unstable and needs to come with us, along with you."

Mikey said something under his breath, but I didn't hear. When he noticed I didn't do anything, he said it slightly louder. "Run."

"What?" I asked.

Mikey rushed the officer, jamming the end of the flashlight into the guy's face. "Run!" he ordered again.

I did, I took of down the street as Mikey yelled directions to get to Ashton's at me. He promised to meet me there, but I was scared he wouldn't. I was scared I wouldn't.

I paced across Ashton's living room, stopping to peer through the blinds before continuing my walking again. Ashton just sat on the couch next to Calum and watched me, rolling his eyes and sighing every so often. I'd check my phone constantly, where as Ashton and Calum checked theirs every few minutes.

"And this is all about a girl?" Ashton questioned.

"She's not just some girl, okay." I told him.

"We understand that, Luke," Calum sighed. "But you're honestly overreacting. She'll be fine. Just sit down before your nerves get too frayed. Who knows where we'll be staying if you break this house."

I huffed and flopped down in the recliner. What was I supposed to do? I hated just waiting around for someone to show up or for one of the two to call, but I couldn't go out and look for them. I'd get caught and make thing worse.

Someone's phone started beeping. I looked at mine in my hand. It wasn't mine. Ashton and Calum took theirs out of their pockets and checked them. Ashton put his to his ear. He didn't say anything, he just waited and listened.

"Okay," he finally nodded and then paused to listen again. A frown formed on his face. "No, why?"

"What?" I asked, leaning forward in my seat.

He ignored me and kept listening. "And I have to be the one to tell him? Great, cheers mate."

"Ashton." I groaned.

He held up one finger to me. "Okay, see you soon."

He hung up the phone and got to his feet. I followed him down the hall to the front door. He flicked the outside light on before going into the kitchen. Calum followed behind me.

"Well?" I pressed.

"The cop recognized Jemma," Ashton finally said. "Mikey held him off and told Jemma how to get here. He asked if she showed up, but I told him she hasn't."

I immediately went to the window and scanned the dark road. There were hardly any streetlights since the road was almost abandoned. Not many of the houses were occupied, and it was a dead end anyway.

"What about the cop?" Calum asked.

"Mikey knocked him out," Ashton explained. "He has him in the back of the car and is on his way now."
