I begin getting ready for my meeting. Lilac is thrilled to be coming with me to start a new life. Her father, Jaman, has no idea of what is happening. Drane has given his a task to complete so that he can take us to Crimson City. I know that I will utterly miss Drane and his childish flirting.
Once Jaman is out of the house and far off in the woods, we begin to pack the four small bags that hold our clothing into the car. Lilac waits in the house because it is dreadfully cold out here, and when I turn toward the house I see that Drane is staring at me. "We could live a life together." he says and I shake my head. "Drane, we can never be together. I am leaving with Lilac so that she may have a better life, but I do have a mission that I must complete." he nods his head and goes to the house to collect Lilac.
I slide into the front seat of the car and look at myself in the mirror. I pray that Theo doesn't remember me from that night in his apartment. But maybe if he does I can find a way to hide the truth from him. And with Lilac's help, be able to save his life without him guessing at what I truly am. Hopefully this goes well.
The drive to Crimson City is long and boring. I stare out the window mostly and listen to the music playing on the radio. Drane tries to talk to me, but I pretend to sleep half way through the ride. Lilac actually sleeps in the back and her soft sounds echo through my head. She is such a lovely girl and I hope that Theo allows her to stay.
We get to the coffee shop around eleven o'clock and I try to slow my rapid breathing. The weather in the city is much warmer than out where we were. I undo one of the buttons on the black blouse that Lilac had found in the back of her mothers closet. Paired with black jeans and black high heeled shoes, I looked pretty normal. But when you add in my smokey stormy strands of silky hair and light eyes, you get an otherworldly girl.
Beside me stands Lilac and Drane, who has insisted on walking the two of us into the coffee shop. Lilac is dressed in a flowery red dress that falls to her shines. Her blonde hair is pulled up into a sleek ponytail and i smile at her cute little girl facade. There is no way that Theo will refuse to let her stay with us. I walk into the cafe followed by the two of them and I stop dead in my tracks when my eyes land on Theo, sitting at a table with two steaming cups and a carton of chocolate milk.
