*Shadow*
Seeing him sitting there at a lone table off in a corner makes my chest ache. He looks so beautiful in his short sleeved dress shirt as white as a cloud in Heaven, matched nicely with a pair of black slacks and fancy dress shoes. His hair is shaggy and falling into his face. I cannot believe I'm actually going to talk to him.
I raise my head high and continue walking toward him. My stance all business and no non-sense like. But my heart beats rapidly in my chest. I stand before him and he raises his head. I catch his eyes widen as he realizes who I am, but I am saved when Lilac comes skipping up to us after saying goodbye to Drane.
"Hello Mr. Parker. I am Shadow field. This is my sister Lilac." I say as I reach my hand out to him. He smiles warmly and Lilac and I, before offering us a seat. "Please sit. I didn't know if you liked coffee or not so I ordered you a hot chocolate. I hope you don't mind." I smile my gratitude and slide into one of the chairs. Lilac sits beside me and Theo pushes the chocolate milk toward her. She nods her thanks and opens it up.
"So, tell me why you'd like to work for me."
"Well sir, I really need the money and my sister and I have nowhere to stay. I feel bad for having to ask you if you had anywhere for us to stay yesterday, but you see, our father isn't very friendly. He only wanted sons, and when our mother died, he began ignoring us."
"Oh well I see. I'm sorry to hear that. Are you able to do all the duties of a maid?"
"Oh yes sir. I can cook, clean, and pretty much do whatever it is you need."
I respond and he smiles widely at me. Lilac pipes in as well. "I am very good at that also sir. I cleaned a lot for father after mother died. I wouldn't even need to be paid. I am able to earn my keep." her small voice is adorable and I see Theo struggling with himself on whether or not to let this small girl in. Finally he lets out a sigh and grins at us.
"I think this is the first time I have ever hired a person on the spot. I want you to come work for me, right away." we both nod and all three of us stand as one. We make our way for the door and I am surprised to see Drane still standing there. "Drane, should you not be going home?" Lilac asks.
"I had started to go, but I soon remembered that you guys left the bags in the car." he says as he opens the trunk and pulls out our four tiny bags. "Here you go, you two. Enjoy your new life." he sounds sad as he says the last few words and I feel bad as I watch him climb into the car and speed away.
Lilac begins to cry softly as she wraps her small arms around my slim waist. "I'm going to miss him." she says quietly and I nod in agreement. "So am I Lilac." I hold her tightly and turn to look at Theo. His face shows pure surprise and I notice that he is staring at our bags. "Is that all you've got?" he sounds terrified by our light packing.
