*Shadow*

The choice was easy to make, and I did not hesitate for a second. I make the best possible choice, and before I know it, it's too late to change it.

*Theo*

I wake with a start and roll over to face the rain soaked window. The drops seem to race down the window, and I stare out past them all into the dark sky. I listen to the little pitter-patter of the storms. I let out a sigh and throw an arm over my eyes. There's a knock at the door and I push up. I climb out of bed and move toward the door. I open it and there stands the prettiest girl I've ever seen.

"Hey Lilac, what's up?" she has tears streaming down her face. "I'm just thinking about her again. I miss her." Neither Lilac nor I usually say her name anymore. It hurts too much to think about her absence, and yet I cannot stop thinking about her. I open my arms and welcome her into a warm embrace. She rushes forward and hugs me tightly.

I bring her back into her room and tuck her in. I sing softly to her, and I stroke her hair. She soon drifts off into a blissful sleep, but you can easily tell that she is still on her mind. I inhale deeply, and make my way back into my temporary room.

Thankfully the rain has stopped, and I push open the window. The clouds have left the pretty sky, so that it is clear. I inhale the fresh air, and it smells like sage. "Oh dear sweet Shadow, where have you gone? Are you okay where you are?" I ask the sky, and I feel the tears sting my eyes and I hiccup. After a second, I hear the rustling of the tree branches, and I glance up.

In the old maple tree in front of my window, sits a breathtaking view. Shadow, dressed in a beautiful topaz, floor length dress. Her perfect hair is as beautiful as ever, and her smile is bright. "Shadow, my dear, what are you doing here?" she smiles at me, and my heart picks up speed. It has been three months since she was last here, since she saved Lilac and my own life.

"God has allowed me a short visit, and I wish to tell you how happy I am to see you and Lilac doing so well. Now, I am here to explain something to you. Are you prepared for this?" she asks, her voice as pure and lovely as before. I nod my head and she smiles once again. She nods as well and moves closer to me, so that she is able to look into my eyes.

"I have chosen to give life back to Lilac, and she will continue to live until her proper time. When that time comes, there will be no changing it. I was able to save her, because God knew that if she hadn't lived, neither would you. I made this choice because you both matter so much to me. I will watch over you both from Heaven, and I will try my best to keep you both safe. When you are feeling down, or when you miss me, just look into the night sky, and imagine my smoky eyes, and dark tumble of hair. Remember my smile, and listen for the sound of my laugh. You may not be able to see me ever again, but just know that I am always with you. I am in the air that you breathe, the fire that warms your heart, the water the cools your wounds, the ground that supports your feet, and the very essence that allows you to live. I am in you, and Lilac, for the rest of your lives. I will never be completely gone, and I will love both of you for the rest of my eternal life. I will look out for you, and make sure that you will never feel the way that you have felt in the past. I hope that you will remember me for the person I truly was. Please stay strong for me, and for Lilac, but mostly for yourself. I have become a guardian Angel for both you and Lilac, and I intend to keep my oath of protection. I love you, and I love Lilac as well. Please stay strong for me, and I will do everything in my power to keep you happy from where I reside. Just know that even in death, the night sky is peaceful, for that is where my soul resides. I will await you on the other side, and I hope that we can one day meet up in the most precious of places, and be free."

After her speech, there is a blinding light, and before I know it, she is gone. I will never see her beautiful face again, but at least her true murderer is gone, locked away behind bars, and that Lilac and I are safe. She is now my guardian Angel. I will hold onto her presence for the rest of my life, and I will forever love her.

I close my window, slide back into bed, and enter the world of peaceful dreams, where I can always be with my dear, sweet, Shadow. I hold tightly to the magic we had created with our love, and I dream of our wedding, the wedding that will never happen.
