Chloe's POV
Today was awful. I woke up this morning and the first thing I did was puke. Then I had to get ready for work.
I graduated from Barden two years ago and now I have a job as a language arts teacher for middle school. I don't hate my job, but to be honest it's not what I expected. The kids were so rude to me sometimes. I understand they are teenagers, but do they have to be so rude? There is one girl, however, that sits in the back and doesn't do much. While everyone is complaining, she sits quietly and writes down the assignment. Her name was Ella. When I have to watch over lunch, she sits at a table with a few other girls and they all talk and laugh. It's like she's a completely different person. I wish all of the students were like her, quiet and obedient.
Anyway, back to my awful day. After getting dressed and eating breakfast, a thought occurred to me. Am I pregnant? Immediately I told myself no. It's probably just food poisoning.
When I got to school, to my unpleasant surprise, the principal was standing in my classroom waiting for me.
"Good morning." I said like it was normal for him to be standing there.
"Miss Beale, did you hook up with the science teacher?" He asked me.
My face went bright red. How did he know?
"Sir, I'm afraid that is none of your business. The rule book says what happens outside of school stays outside of school." I said, while putting my things in my desk.
"I have one more question for you." He said.
"Yes"
"Are you available tomorrow night?"
What!? Does he want to hook up with me!?
"Again, none of your business." I said.
"Not for that reason. I'm sorry that could have been taken the wrong way. I need you to chaperone the school dance." He said.
Great. Because that's how I wanted to spend my Friday night.
"Of course sir, I'll be there." I said.
By the time third period came, I just wanted to leave. Ella was the first one to walk into the classroom for class. I expected her to be followed by the rest of her class but they still didn't appear even after a few minutes.
"Where is everybody?" I asked her.
"Do you really want to know Miss Beale?" She asked me.
"Of course."
"They are still at their lockers complaining about, you know what never mind." She said and went back to her drawing.
"Ella, tell me, I won't be mad." I said, even thought I probably would be.
"You. They are complaining about you." She said.
I couldn't believe what she had just said. What did I do? She must've seen I was hurt because she apologized a lot, but I told her it was ok and I was happy she told me.
Eventually everyone came in.
"You're late." I said to them.
I marked everyone, except Ella of course, tardy.
Finally after six hours of agony, it was time to go home. I just hoped tomorrow wouldn't be as awful.
