A man answered the door.
"You must be the Mitchell-Beale family, come in. I will get Ella." He said, mispronouncing Beale.
"Thank you." I said.
We went into the house and saw suitcases on the side of the staircase.
A seventeen year old girl walked down the stairs.
"Miss Beale!" She squealed. I guess she remembered me.
"Actually it's Mommy." I corrected her.
She ran down the stairs and gave me a hug. She was a good three inches taller than me.
"Thank you." She whispered in my ear.
"Ella, this is Summer and Beca, but you can call her Mom." I said.
She got on her knees in front of Summer.
"Hi Summer, I'm Ella." She said.
"Hi." Summer said softly.
We got in the car and began to drive home. Ella sat quietly in the back seat next to Summer.
When we got home Ella looked around and Beca took Summer upstairs to get changed into pajamas.
"Miss Beale, I mean... Mommy?" Ella said.
"What's up?" I said.
"Did you know you were going to be adopting me?" She asked.
"I felt so bad for not being able to go to your parents' funeral, and I knew you would be all alone. A few months ago, Summer was talking about how she wished she had an older sister, so I decided to try and find you. I know you'll be an amazing big sister."
I made dinner and we all sat together as a family for the first time. Something about it felt right. It felt like that was how it was always supposed to be. Ella took a bite of the food first and I noticed a weird expression on her face. Next was Beca, who spit it out and glared at me.
"Are you trying to kill us?" She asked.
I tasted it and it was awful.
"Oh my God." I said and started gagging.
Summer took a bite.
"Yuck!" She exclaimed.
"Pizza?" I said.
"Pizza." The three of them confirmed.
I ordered the pizza and sat back down. From that day on, I knew that our family was, and would forever be perfect.
