Camila always seems to be up at the crack of dawn. I don't understand the phenomena but it seems that every morning when I wake up for work she is sitting, cross-legged in front of the couch with a different book at hand.
Today, she has set down the classics and replaced it with Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher. She hasn't noticed my presence quite yet but she must not be liking what she's reading. It's a beautifully written novel but can be very dark as well. I watch as her eyebrows furrow and she uncrosses her legs bringing them into her torso as if protecting herself from the words flying up at her from the book. I find it fascinating how enthralled she gets with these stories.
"Camila," I say capturing her attention.
Her head shoots up in my direction in clear shock from the unexpected sound but I immediately see her shoulders relax when she realizes who it is.
"Ms. Jauregui" she greets with a warm smile.
She sometimes still uses my last name no matter how hard I try to get her out of the habit but, one step at a time.
"I see you found the stack of books in the closet" I point out, recalling that specific novel wasn't in the small library from the guest room. Instead, there was a closet in the hall towards the room that we only used to store junk, including a box full of books we never bothered to read.
She nodded shyly and focused her eyes on the ground and it was then that I realized she might have taken my comment as a reprimand, which was not the intention.
"It's ok" I cut in immediately once I saw what crossed her mind. "You can look around as much as you'd like," I said with a slight chuckle to make sure she knew I meant it.
"Good morning" I heard from behind me before Camila could say anything.
I'd recognize my girlfriend's sleepy voice anywhere, and the sound immediately makes me smile.
I turn around to see Alycia in one of my sweatshirts and a messy bun. It doesn't look like she interested in wearing pants this morning which I have no problem with, I just hope it's not uncomfortable for our guest. Though, maybe I should stop thinking of her as a guest, more like our new roommate since she'll be staying for a while.
She places a soft kiss on my lips as Camila offers her a shy "Good morning" in return.
"Good morning babe," I say as she walks past me towards the kitchen.
"Plans for today?" I ask before she gets to her location.
She nods "I have to work, I'm doing a photoshoot today with Normani" the smile on her face is adorable. Though Ms. Kordei and I didn't get off to a very good start I'm glad that Alycia is happy to be working with her friend.
"And you?" she asks since she knows it's my day off.
My eyes land on the brunette that has already managed to block out our presence falling deeply back into the books story line.
"Camila and I are going out" I inform her
This causes the brown eyed girl to look up from the book at hand and meet eyes with mine.
"We are?" she asks.
I nod offering her a soft smile.
"You are?" Alycia follows.
Two sets of eyes are now focused on me as I nodded
"I mean as cute as you look in my clothes I think we need to get you some of your own" I smiled.
Camila's cheeks turned a light shade of pink as I smiled. I looked up to see my girlfriend looking at me with a deadpan expression and it was then that I realized my comment may have been inappropriate.
