"So when did she get the results of the DNA?" Dinah asked
We were sitting on a park bench with the sun shining brightly above us. It was a beautiful spring morning with the smell of fresh flowers invading our nostrils as the two of us watched Camila from afar while she waited for Diane.
"About two weeks ago," I answer her.
Camila stood awkwardly in the entrance of the park as she waited for her sister's arrival.
"And she just now got in contact with her?" Dinah asks
I shrug, not wanting her to think negatively about Camila in any way. However, since Camila got the results she has gone through all of the necessary stages to get to where she is right now.
At first, she thought the test was wrong and refused to believe it. She then proceeded to realize it was the truth it but then became angry at her mother for not telling her that she had a half-sister. Truthfully, that was something I understood considering where Camila ended up because she thought she had no family. Her homelessness could have been avoided had her mom been truthful but it's too late now to take that back.
After that, she started to defend her mom. Saying that maybe she thought it was for the best and that she couldn't really judge her decision since she doesn't know how hard it was for her. Quickly afterward, she became sad, I'm not sure if it was because of anything in particular but simply at the bulk of the situation. Now, two weeks later she is finally ready to face Diane.
Truthfully, I am so glad that she is finally at this point because I watched her go through all of these phases and I'm not sure which I liked the least. I hated feeling I couldn't help my girlfriend no matter how hard I wanted to.
From a distance, I see who I consider to be the elder version of Camila walk through the park gates and walk towards her sister. Camila greeted her and glanced to where she knew Dinah and I were sitting. I gave her a quick nod of encouragement before she went on a walk with the older woman and began talking.
After all, they have a lifetime to catch up on.
Dinah and I, on the other hand, remained seated on the park bench. We were only here for moral support, though Camila didn't really need it. She could be very persuasive though and neither one of us could really say no to her.
"How do you think this will end?" Dinah asked after a few minutes of silence.
My eyes never lost focus, they remained on my girlfriend and her sister as I spoke up.
"Well, I don't think Camila will allow Diane to be her BFF just yet," I said
Dinah immediately scoffed "Um, that role is taken"
I smiled but ignored her comment and continued "But after time" I said with a chuckle "I feel like she'll realize this was a good thing" I nod "After all, she spent far too many years with no home and no family" I looked at Dinah and shrugged "Now she has both"
There was a look on Dinah's features that I had never seen before. A look of satisfaction fell on her face as if she was finally giving me the approval I didn't know I needed.

My eyes landed on Camila as she sat on the bed with her laptop in front of her. She has headphones on and I knew she was working on her music but I wanted some insight on this afternoon.
I knew that asking outright how it went wouldn't work but I had a plan in mind. Without her noticing, I slipped out of the room and into the kitchen. I grabbed two wine glasses and poured some Moscato each one knowing the effect the alcoholic beverage had on her last time.
