Chapter II - Oh Bogurt
"Counting Stars" - One Republic
Dian
It was horrible, deadly and gag worthy. Dian had to listen to her father sing along to a Jimmy Buffet song, while dancing with her mother on the beach making googly eyes. It wasn't a sight she'd chose to see, but at least they were happy.
A engine of a boat could be heard, Anthony was getting close. Everyone, including Rick were outside waiting.
Dian's whole body shook. She was so excited to see Anthony again. But nervous too. Did he change any? What did he learn? What had college been like? She hoped he wouldn't come back looking like someone she'd never met before.
Beside her Rick grunted. "You look like someone is out to get you."
She narrowed her eyes at him. Thinking about the giant coconut that just barely missed her head this morning. Maybe someone is. "Yeah, sure. Like you look much better."
He was sweaty, dirty. His hair was a mess and he was breathing hard. Again, no one was exactly sure what he had been doing, other than it seemed very hard. . .
"Yeah, yeah. This is what I always look like." He got closer. The stench nearly made Dian want to roll over and gag even worse than her parents being gooey. "And smell."
"Oh gosh, Rick! Get away!" She screamed and jumped off the small stump she had been sitting on.
The boat engine grew louder. A part of her needed to get away from Rick, the smile on his face had grown and that wasn't a good sign. The other part wanted to scream and swim all the way to the boat and be the first to see Anthony.
So she chose the between, ran off to the beach and nearly knocked her parents down trying to reach the water.
The boat came around the tree. It was shinny and blue. The sun in her eyes, she could barely see them, but for little black humanoid figures.
"Anthony?" She tried to shield her eyes. One of the figures waved. "Anthony!"
Joy bloomed in her heart when he spoke. "Hey, Dian!" He could barely be heard over the boat's engine, but even then he sounded like a mirrored version of their father.
Instead of running out there, she did her best to plant her feet in the sand till the boat made it to shore.
Anthony jumped out, he wore a brown shirt and jeans with normal sneakers. His shaggy brown hair was messed up from the boat ride, his hazel eyes scanned the island. Making sure it was in one piece.
He smiled when he spotted Dian. She couldn't stay planted there for much longer. She took off at a run, thrown up sand on to Rick - who complained loudly - and threw herself on to Anthony who caught her. It was nice to see him again, hug him again.
"Well, you've gotten taller," he announced and rustled her hair. She came up to his chest then. "And I see Rick has gotten bigger too." He was looking over her, that was when she noticed he hadn't shaved in a while.
Rick walked up, it was a surprise just how big of a difference there was between her sixteen year old brother and her twenty year old brother. Anthony just barely reached Rick's chin.
"Well that puts some things in perspective," their dad said happily, their mother hugging his arm with a sad glint in her eyes but a happy smile seeing her two sons together. They both hugged Anthony and picked up their own bags.
The boat driver said something, but no one but Anthony could understand him. He shouted back in the same language and grabbed Rick up on the boat with him, and started to unload.
