(around 200 hundred years ago)

A man was crying as his wife lay dying on their bed. Their two month old son was in another room. The man prayed for his wife to be well again. Not knowing he was being watched by a being in the shadows.

The being watching him was a demon training to be 'Death' in future. This was his first soul to collect alone. As the woman raised her hand he stepped forward to take her soul. But the husband stood in front of of the demon. "Please spare my wife, I'll do anything you ask" the man begged.

Death didn't usually talk to humans or make deals with them. The only time he does is if believes the person deceives to live or is looking for a bride. As the demon was training to be 'Death' he would need a bride in the future. Like the Death of now has.

"Very well human, I'll make you a deal to save your wife's life. I'll need a bride in future and when the next daughter from your bleed line is born. She will become my bride or I take your wife's soul" the demon offered.

The man looked at his wife torn between his love for her and his future descendants. But he loved his wife and couldn't lose her. He turned to the demon who he believed to be 'Death'. "You have a deal, the next daughter of my line will be your bride. Now please save my wife" the man pleaded.

The demon walked forward and touched the woman's head with a cross from his belt. A light emitted from her and her breathing evened out. "She will live a long life with you and your son. But she won't be able to bear children again. I will return for my bride on the day after her 20th birthday" he told the man who nodded.

When his wife started to open her eyes he ran to her hugging her close. He turned to say thank you, but found the man gone. Then he heard his son's cry from the other room and went to check on him.

Death had watched the demon his son make the deal with a smirk. He then disappeared into the night to return to his wife. While his son the demon continued to collect souls of the dead.
