Chapter 48:

(Kerri's POV)

We catch Lucas out the door and give him Grey so that he could drop him off at his dorm, leaving Justin and I alone.

Justin and I are sitting on the opposite bed throwing cheerios at each other and making small talk.

"Hmm, favorite color?" I ask with a grin.

He sighs," don't have one."

I look at him with disbelief," mhm, yeah, sure."

I want to ask more personal questions like about his family but I refrain, I don't want to scare him off.

Just when I think that we are gonna keep it impersonal, he asks one of the most personal things at the moment.

"So, I imagine the Grey dude is your ex you've been trying to avoid?"

My saliva gets stuck in my throat but I reply.

"Yeah. Its complicated."

"Was," I correct myself.

He looks at me with sorrow which only makes me more confused and uncomfortable.

"Do you have any exes?" I blurt out without thinking.

What? Why did I just say that?

"Do you mean like have I ever dated anyone else?" he replies confused but very coolly.

My face turns tomato red and he smiles.

"Just forget it."

He gets up and walks over to me, placing a hand on my knee.

"What? No. If you have questions, you should ask, I'm completely okay with it," he comforts me with another smile.

"I have some," he adds, answering my question.

I am so awkward. I couldn't have thought of anything better to ask and continue the conversation with.

I shift on the bed," I am so socially awkward. Lucas is literally like my only friend, he's been my best friend since, well we first went to school."

He nods," all my friends turned out to be assholes so I broke that off in junior year and never spoke to them again."

I wonder what he was like in high school. Was he this good looking? Kerri, stop it.

"Have you and Lucas ever been more than friends?"

Damn he's Snoopy.

I shake my head no and giggle. My giggle turns into a full on laughing fit. Its that kind of laugh that makes your sides hurt.

"What's so funny?" he asks with a confused face.

"Lucas is gay. He's about as straight as a circle," I state in between laughs.

Now his face is red from embarrassment and mine is red from not getting enough air.

Realization washes over his face," that's why he looked at me so lustful!"

That made me laugh harder and his laughs start up.

The fact that he found that funny was beyond me but seeing him laugh was just enough to make me want to forever. His pearly white teeth was on full view and his eyes lit up with joy. I didn't think that I could enjoy watching someone laugh so much.

I must not have realized it but I had stopped laughing and I was staring at him with a goofy smile.

"Kerri?" he breaks my intense stare.

I stumble through my stare and come back to reality," uh yeah?"

Shit. Now I'm a creeper.

"Your smile is adorable."

His face gave away that he knew what I was doing but he didn't call me out for it, instead he made me feel like I was on top of the world.

He gave me a smile and jumped off the bed," alright Miss. Kerri, I will see you tomorrow morning for more lectures from the big bad wolf?"

"Sure will," I reply and get off the bed as well.

He goes on over to the door and opens it," good day my lady!"

"You too!" I reply with a smile. 

He laughs and shuts the door behind him.

I need sleep. I change into something more comfortable and climb into bed, eventually falling asleep.

"Please Kerri! You need to get out and have fun!" Diana begs.

Diana woke me up thirty minutes ago, pleading me to join her at a party. I didn't need to know who was having the party to know that I did not want to go.

I roll my eyes at her as she bounces on her bed with a goofy smile. "I don't do parties!" I state.

She stops jumping on the bed and walks over to me," I have the perfect dress!"

She runs over to her dresser and pulls out a blood red dress.

"No! No! No!" I yell as she runs over to me and pushes it against my body.

She sighs and groans. "IT'S YOUR COLOR!" she screams.

I have to admit, it a gorgeous dress. Its not something that you'd normally see me wear, but it's actually likeable.

"Please try it on!" she adds.

I sighed and snatched the dress from her and stood up," I'm just trying it on, nothing more!"

She nods with a huge grin and I head for the bathroom.

It clung tight and had embroidery downwards from my right shoulder to my left hip, wrapping around my body tightly.

I twirled in the bathroom mirror. I have to say, it's gorgeous.

I decide to come out of the bathroom and as soon as I open the door Diana is on her feet with a smile on her face.

"Its beautiful on you! I told you it's your color!" she screams.

What the actual frick happened to the dark and dangerous Diana? I may have liked her better.

She pushes me towards her full body mirror and I am astonished.

I look good.

"You're going to this party. In this dress. And you're gonna have fun."

I sigh and look at her. I receive a pleading look and she is given a sigh of defeat.

I hope I don't regret this.
