Chapter Song: Somebody Else - VÉRITÉ
---------------------------------
Chapter 56:
(Lucas' POV)
I throw my books onto my nightstand and I stretch out across my comfortable bed.
Ever since yesterday's short conversation in the breezeway with Kerri all I could think about is her words no Grey. I didn't say anything to her about it but maybe I will tonight.
I wonder what Kerri is doing now…
I miss her so much. God I need to just get on with life. She's got her own life, I need to get mine.
I need to go find a hot guy and just go for it. I haven't been with a guy since school started… am I going straight?
I literally spent my Thursday evening in the library and today I'm tired. I think I'm just the tiniest bit stressed out.
The knock on the door makes me jerk my head up. I jump off the bed and open the door to reveal Kerri.
She runs into the room and throw her arms around me. "I've missed you!" she exclaims.
"I see that…"
She pulls out of our hug and looks at me with a concerned expression," everything okay?"
No, I miss you and you are leaving me here in the dust to cry myself to sleep. My best friend is leaving me for another guy.
"I'm fine stop being a worrywart!" I poke her in her side which makes her giggle.
She shrugs and piles up on my bed and snuggles under the covers. I just stand and watch as she attempts to get comfortable.
"Come on!" she yells and pats the bed. She looks so childish, snuggled up under the covers with them pulled up to her chin.
I climb under the covers with as much enthusiasm as I could muster at the moment. Just look how happy she is, she hasn't had a decent conversation with me and she's perfectly fine.
"So how did your date go?" I ask with a smile. She squeals in response.
She laughs," well, great, then it went awkward."
"Details missy!"
We sit there and she explains the whole night. As much as it hurts to see her having so much fun without me, I stay strong and act like I am thankful she is having fun. Which I really do want her to have fun and enjoy herself but I miss her.
After she explains her date night we get ready for sob worthy movies.
------
"Titanic, The Notebook, or The Fault In Our Stars?" She asks, looking up to me with a smile. She's sitting in the floor like a child, rummaging through the movies under my bed.
I laugh at my thoughts and reply to her," Titanic!"
She sets the other two back into the bucket and slides it under the bed. I watch as she grabs my laptop off my desk and jumps onto the bed with me.
I have missed this so much. I miss her childish ways, her goofy laugh, and the way her eyes light up when she's doing these things.
"Why are you looking at me like that..?" She asks, confused.
I shrug it off," I just miss you."
She smiles and shoves the DVD into the laptop. When the screen pops up we both get comfortable under the blankets.
