"Thank you so much Joe," I said as I hauled my massive bag over my shoulder.

"Are you sure you are ready to go, you can stay a bit longer if you want, well a lot longer. And if things don't go well at home come straight back here."

"I'm sure thank you," I smiled embracing him in a hug.

Me and Drew figured we had stayed here long enough. Caspar couldn't sleep on the sofa anymore because it couldn't be comfy and we should move back home. Joe was more than happy for us to stay but I decided it would be best. We didn't want to outstay our welcome.

"Please, please, please come back here if you have any doubts and let me know if things go ok," he sighed. I couldn't give in to his warm smile.

"I will," I replied.

With that me and Drew left. Back to the life we both didn't particularly want. If we could choose another life - we probably would.

I climbed into Drews car and threw my last bag on top of the pile on the back seat.

"Ready?" I smiled at him.

"Not at all," he sighed and started the car engine. He began driving and the first part of the ride was in silence.

"What do you propose we do when we get back?" Drew asked.

"Speak to dad?" I said more like a question.

"And what are you intending on saying?" He asked keeping his eyes on the road the whole time.

"Not sorry," I laughed.

"Come on Chlo, we need a home!"

"But what did I do? Really? Why should I apologise?"

Drew didn't answer we just sat in silence for a while longer. I didn't know what to say. I didn't feel as though it was the right thing to do.

"Are you ok?" I asked.

"Not really," he replied fairly bluntly.

Finally we pulled up onto the drive way and my heart began pounding out of my chest. This was it. For a moment neither of us moved just sat and stared at the place we knew once as a home now as a house.

I braced myself and placed my hand on the door handle of the car.

"Let's go," I sighed. I stepped out onto the car and onto the gravel drive which scraped beneath my feet. I walked around to the boot and began to collect my bags.

I pulled my key out of my pocket and unlocked the front door.

"Hello?" I shouted. No answer. "I don't think anyone is in," I said to Drew as he made his way in.

"Hello? Dad?" He yelled. "Typical," he mumbled. "I'm going to unpack."

I hauled my bags to my room and began to unpack all my belongings into the correct places. I pulled out a navy jumper which I didn't recognise. I held it up in front of me realising it was Joes and I must have accidentally scraped it up.

It made me well up a little bit. I already missed him. He treated me so well and to me this place wasn't home anymore. I hugged the jumper tightly trying to hold back the tears. His scent lingered on the jumper and made my tears flow even more. It was warm and reminded me of happiness.

"Drew? Chloe?" I heard a voice yell. It broke my thoughts and I realised dad was home. I wiped away the tears and looked strong. I had to be strong.

"Hello!" I shouted. I took one last look in the mirror and headed down dreading what was about to happen.

"Chloe!" Dad shouted as I got to the bottom. However it wasn't quite the shouting I was used to. He hugged me tight.

"I'm so sorry Chloe," he sighed. I wasn't used to this. It was so unfamiliar but I loved it. After a few moments I hugged back.

"It's ok," now the tears really flowed. They flowed and wouldn't stop. I think his did too.

Drew came down the stairs and saw what was going on. I felt a second pair of arms join the hug until I realised we were all hugging and bawling.

I felt a slight glimmer of hope.

Hope for a family.

And if this one didn't work out I knew I had my dysfunctional family at the Jaspar household.
