Hydra recruited and sent new agents out. It was a simple mission, one you all have done before. What none of you expected was that these new agents where only 12 or 13. They were just kids.

You tried to get them to just lay down their weapons and surrender, but they refused. They were actually trying to kill you. You had to shoot them. It's kill or be killed, right?

When you get back, you're numb, you feel so disgusted in yourself. How could you kill those poor kids? What have you become? You're no better than Hydra.

Since no one is in the Avengers Tower, you just flop on the sofa. You don't know what to do... Maybe you should just quit....

How can you possibly continue at Shield, with the Avengers, knowing you did something as terrible as kill children?

You sit there for hours just thinking. Suddenly Tony sits next to you.

"What's wrong, sweetheart? Miss me that much?"

You shake your head.

"Not in the mood for the flirting today, Tony."

You say exasperated. He narrows his eyes at you, looking more serious.

"Okay, (y/n), tell me what's wrong, let me help."

You sigh looking up at him.

"I.... I'm worse than Hydra..."

He looks at you confused so you continue.

"Their new recruits were just kids.... Barely teenagers..."

Tony seems to piece everything together from that. He puts an arm around you, pulling you into a hug.

"You did what you had to, you followed protocol. I know you, (n/n), you wouldn't do something like that unless you had too."

You shake your head.

"I have to quit.... I can't do this anymore..."

He pulls back from the hug to lock eyes with your beautiful (e/c) orbs.

"You can't let Hydra win. This is what they want, they want you to quit. You have to stand and fight. I will be here to fight with you, the whole team will."

You give a small smile. Tony is the sweetest.

"You're right, I have to fight. I'm not afraid to give my life for what's right."

You still hate what you did, and you will never forgive yourself for it. But Tony and the team need you to fight. So that's what you're going to do, fight.

Tony smiles at you, he leans in kissing your cheek.

"Good. Now, sweet cheeks, we have a meeting that we are five minutes late too."

"Thirty-five minutes, Sir."

"Thanks, J."

You chuckle at them.
