Bullets of ice penetrate my skin.
And the winds howl at my sin,
With blood dripping down my chin
My mind and body are in separation now. My body is making me run but my mind is telling me to go back. I make my legs slow down into a sluggish walk. Rain starts falling down on me as I head to the train station. I don’t know why but my mind is now attracted to it. I start shivering so I hold my arms around me and breathe deeply in and out. All the humans have headed home by now and from here; I could see that there are only one or two humans left at the train station. The automatic doors slide open as I walk in. I wring my hair out and take off my coat. With a bland expression I walk over to a seat near the train. The humans look at me quizzically but they shrug it off. I’m not here to bother them anyway.
“Are you waiting for a train?” An employee asks me.
I nod. “When’s the next one coming?”
“About ten minutes,” he says after checking his watch. I have no idea what I’m doing but I have a feeling, a feeling to die. This life isn’t worth living anymore. I twirl my hair in order to pass time.
Death is finally coming near,
The greeting of death will be here,
Death is something I do not fear
The train is coming, I could tell by the sound echoing through the tunnel. A light dimly beams through the tunnel, approaching faster than my heart is beating. I drop my coat on the ground at start walking to the edge of the platform. ‘You’re preparing yourself for your death! Why!” The subconscious part of me says.
“I don’t care. I want to die,” I whisper in response. I ignore everything else, even the humans that are staring. I look down at my feet as I take one more step. The train is only metres away as I step off the edge of the platform.
“I’m coming back for you, Tristan.” My eyes close as I gracefully fall to my death.
I feel someone grab me by the waist and pull me away from the speeding train. My feet barely miss the crash of my death. No human is fast enough to save me from my imminent death, but there are only humans here. I pull their arm off my waist and turn around.
“What are y-“ My cheeks flush and my eye twitches, it’s Tristan.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” He brushes his finger across my cheek.
“How are you ali-“I stammer.
“Just let me kiss you already.” He interrupts me and holds my waist to bring me closer. The moment our lips touch, I feel overwhelmed. Tears seep out of my eyes as his arms around my body hold me so tightly that I could feel my ribs hurting. I place my pale, icy hands on his warm face as my feet are lifted of the ground. My tears flow out and fall into our lips. I taste the saltiness of the tears with my tongue as it enters his mouth. His head tilts to the other side with mine. No one would understand how much I have missed him, so many days of being depressed. My toes are resting on the ground and now my heels are falling back down.
My hot breath fogs up the air between us as we pull away. I bite my bottom lip and rest my head on his shoulder. His fingers run slowly through my hair, brushing out the matted mess from the rain. My hand finds a way to his hand and tangles my fingers with his.
“How are you even alive?” I ask while he starts walking me home.
“I never died,” he answers, now I’m confused. “When you unleashed your real power, the power of love, it brought me back to life.”
“But you didn’t wake up.”
“I woke up hours later.” He smiles. “I don’t break my promises.” Tristan kisses my forehead and I unlock the door to my apartment.
“You sure don’t,” I reply and I dump my wet clothes in a basket. I change into something warmer and walk out of my room. Tristan grabs my hands and pushes me up against a wall. He lifts my chin up with his finger and gazes intensely in my eyes. Every time I exhale my chest would be up against his. I get lost in his eyes and we kiss again.
As our lips move against each other, I never realised how much the same it felt kissing Adam and Tristan, even if they are the same person.
“We should really stop kissing.” I refrain from letting his lips touch mine.
“I can’t stop.” I feel his lower lip touch mine. My eyes are still closed and I feel his hand run down the back of my head. I press my lips against his again.
“Your lips taste better than human blood,” he whispers. I pull away and open my eyes.
“Okay, I’ll stop then.” I tease him and run to the couch. He catches me and I fall to the ground. I giggle as he falls on top of me and groans. I kiss his nose and wriggle my way out. I switch the TV on; it plays a romantic comedy. He wraps his arms around my neck and rests his chin on my head.
“I’ll love you for the rest of my immortal life, Red,” he whispers.
“Then at least make me warmer.” He climbs on the couch and holds me in his arms. I feel warmer instantly and my eyelids get heavy. I had such a long day, full of ups and downs but finally a happy ending for all of us.
This is an adventure of friendship, love and tragedy that I will never forget because all this did bring me to life.
I wish I could've made this chapter longer but I'm not known for long chapters. Next chapter: Epilogue!
