5. Brooklyn
To say that Brooklyn was surprised would be an understatement. The apology (although it was brief) was unexpected, especially considering how angry she looked while shouting at him. After the initial shock, Brooklyn passed it off as something she was forced to do.

Walking down the narrow path that was made for him, Brooklyn went to meet up with Landon for their last class together. Brooklyn could easily spot his tall, raven haired friend through the sea of students. He sped up his pace and smiled up at him.

"Guess what just happened." He said once he they were close.

Landon hummed in response, "What?"

"Remember Amelia, the girl from earlier?" Brooklyn took notice of the sour look on his friend's face at the mention of said person and continued quickly. "She apologized."

Landon had a look of disbelief, "Of her own free will or?" He asked, dragging out the 'r'.

"By herself." Brooklyn thought for a second. "I think."

Landon still didn't seem convinced, but Brooklyn wanted to believe that it was sincere and move on with his life. The duo entered their class and sat in their seats right next to one another. The next few minutes were filled with small groups of students coming through the door until class officially began.

French was one of Brooklyn's favorite classes. And the fact that he shared it with Landon made it better. His eyes stayed locked on the teacher as they went over the basics of French and simple words.

"Okay," Their teacher, Ms. Harrison, spoke. "Everyone find a partner and have a short conversation, in French. I will be listening I every once in a while."

After that, she released them to talk amongst themselves in the foreign tongue. As usual, Landon and Brooklyn turned to one another as partners. Sometimes Brooklyn felt as if this class was too easy for him (seeing as he was from French descent) but he never wanted to leave it. Not when his best friend was there with him.

"Je n'aime pas cette fille." Landon stated bluntly. I don't like that girl. It didn't take a genius to figure out who he was talking about.

"Est-ec qu'on peut passer à autre chose?" Brooklyn all but begged. Can we please move on from it?

"Je ne comprends pas puex lui pardonner aussi facilement." Landon fought back. I don't understand how you could forgive her like that. The truth was that Brooklyn didn't know how he could either, but he did know that he didn't want this year to be harder than it had to.

"Tu es juste sur-protecteur, comme toujours." Brooklyn shoot back. You're just being over protective, as always.

"Excuse-moi de me soucier de ton bonheur. " Landon huffed and turned in his seat. Forgive me for wanting to keep someone I care about happy.

Those word hit Brooklyn like a punch to the face, and he too turned in his chair. The duo were saved from an awkward class period by their teacher silencing the class and giving a quick wrap up of the lesson. Finally the bell rang through the class and officially ending school.

Brooklyn kept his head down as he packed up his things.

Wow. Muttered the voice in his head. Even your 'best friend' doesn't want your self-destructive attitude.

Brooklyn shook his head slightly, as if the voice would fall out of his mind. Unfortunately, it didn't work like that.

I mean, we always saw it coming right? It was only a matter of time. The voice continued to taunt.

Brooklyn felt his eyes sting, and furiously wiped his eyes. No, he wouldn't cry again. He was stronger than this. But his voices of insecurities didn't agree with him. Insult after insult came until Brooklyn came to a stop in front of his locker.

He wiped his eyes again and grabbed his thing before tossing his bag over his shoulder. As he turned to walk out to the school parking lot, he felt someone grab his shoulders and pull him into them.

Brooklyn immediately recognized the feeling of Landon's arms around his waist and the scent of Axe cologne. Brooklyn blushed at the public display of affection, but ultimately lied his head of his chest.

After a while, Landon pulled away band ran a hand through his thick hair. "I'm sorry B, I didn't mean it."

Brooklyn just shook his head, "No, it was my fault. You were just trying to take care of me." He mumbled.

Landon cracked a smile, "Come on B," He whined. "Can't I moment to be selfless! Just this one."

Brooklyn giggled at his friend, but slammed his mouth once he realized what he did. He looked at Landon, hoping that he didn't hear that. No such luck.

His so called friend was already laughing like a mad man, "Oh god," He wheezed, "That was the cutest thing ever."

Brooklyn pouted, "I'm not cute."

Landon straightened himself up still chucking, "Sure you aren't, Pretty Boy."

"Whatever." Brooklyn grumbled. He grabbed his friends hand and dragged him out to the parking lot. Brooklyn could feel the stared of his fellow students as they walked up to his car. Truth be told, he had no clue what it was, nor did he care.

As usual, Landon got in the drivers seat with Brooklyn in the passenger and the pair drove off onto the open road.
