I was cold. Unnaturally so.

Why's the attic always so freezing?

I opened my mouth to call to Ford to ask why, and was startled when ice cold water filled my mouth.

The ice.

My eyes shot open, immediately stinging. Through the burning sensation, I could vaguely see shades of green, blue, and white, plus some of my hair in my face. I tried to swim upward, but it was a fruitless effort as I continued to sink towards the bottom of the lake. Eventually, even the light from above faded into a dark blackness.

The water was seeping down my throat and burning my lungs.

Bye Dipper, I love you...

I thought, closing my eyes. I was prepared to drown. I was prepared to die.

Suddenly, a faint blue light appeared in the inky blackness. I don't recall opening my eyes, but I must've to have seen a glowing blue Gideon headed towards me. He grabbed me just as I began to close my eyes again.
