"You mean to tell me that that man wrote a journal with actual facts and creatures in it?" I asked, pointing in the direction of the gift shop. Gideon grinned his evil-like smile.

"Of course. I have no reason to lie to you." My eyes flicked back to the gift shop.

"You'd better come upstairs." I decided, grabbing Gideon's arm and dragging him into the attic.

"We should be safe in here, Ford hates climbing these stairs!"

"Are you sure about that? Are you sure he doesn't just leave you alone because you're a preteen girl? Or because he doesn't want you to ask questions?" Gideon asked.

"Um, I'm pretty sure he hates all staircases." Gideon flipped through my journal.

"Incredible. And incredibly hidden. Honestly, I don't know what was going through Stanford's head when he hid the journal by the Elementary school. I found it ages ago!"

"How did you find the journal?" I asked, sitting on my bed beside him.

So I found the journal sticking out of the Earth one day during recess. By then I had already begun my dabbles in supernatural magics, but this, this helped me. It showed me to the amulets."

"Amulets?" I asked. "As in, more than one?" Gideon glared at me for interrupting.

"Yes, unfortunately, someone else also found the amulets. But we won't talk about her."

"So she has the other journal?" I asked, excited about my first real mystery.

"Pacifica? Oh, heavens no." Gideon paused, looking around the attic. "Is this what all girls rooms look like?"

"I'd assume most girls rooms have more pink and stuff. Back home I share a room with my twin brother, Dipper. His half of the room is covered in stickers and posters for shoes and stuff, and mine's covered in scientific and paranormal posters. It's a nice balance." I explained.

"You still share a room with your brother?"

"My parents tried to separate us by putting me in the guest room when we were six. But Dipper got lonely and I had a nightmare so I ended up back in the room." Gideon nodded.

"I've never had to share a room."

"Only child?" I asked.

"Well, I guess that's one reason..."
