Part 26- What Just Happened?

- NARI'S POV -

I was holding my coffee in one hand as Jackson held my other. I kept thinking back to what he said in the coffee shop. I gathered up my courage to ask him about it.

"Jackson?"

"Yeah?"

"Why did you say I was your girlfriend?"

He stopped and looked at me which made me flustered. I spoke again, "Um, it was kind of weird, you know?"

He just kept looking at me. It was really awkward.

He finally spoke, "Would you rather have that girl flirt with me and ignore you?"

I looked down. He had a point. I sighed for the 100 time that day. He caressed my cheek while his thumb rubbed my cheek bone.

"Don't be sad."

"I'm not. Just tired. Let's go." I walked ahead with him following.

We walked in silence for awhile longer as we both sipped at our coffee. Before I knew it we were at my house. I rang the doorbell and waited for Mom to open the door. I turned to Jackson and hugged him.

"I'll see you later."

"Sure." He smiled and was about to walk away when suddenly the door flew open.

"Jackson! How nice to see you!" Mom beamed at him, "Come in!"

"He was just leaving Mom." I step forward and tried to push her in.

"Actually, I can stay for a little while, if you don't mind."

"Good! I just finished making dinner. Come in come in!" She pulled us both in the front hall. I rolled my eyes and dropped my backpack on the floor. I started pulling off my jacket when I felt a hand on my arm.

"Here let me help you." Jackson turned me around and slowly pulled my jacket from my shoulders.

"Aw, such a gentleman!" Mom quietly squealed. I rolled my eyes again.

"Mom can you go get the plates ready?"

"Oh sure!" She smiled and looked us over before turning to go to the kitchen.

"Your Mom is really nice." Jackson smiled at me too. What's his deal?

"Um, I guess so...? Anyways let go eat."

We sat down to eat. Jackson was beside me and Mom was opposite of us across the table.

"I hope you like pork, Jackson."

"I do! Thank you for the food." He smiled and dug into his plate.

"Thank you for the food." I replied and started eating too.

"Wahh! This is delicious!" Jackson beamed at Mom with his cheeks full.

"Thank you!" She smiled back.

"Mom use to be a chef at a top company." I pick at my green beans. I actually hate green beans.

"Dae-bak!" I put my beans on his plate.

"Now she owns two restaurants."

"Jinjja?!" He looked in amazement at my Mom.

"But I stay home with Nari since her bullying situation."

"Well now you won't have too!" I smile at her and she smiles back. I always felt bad that Mom couldn't fully live her dream of owning and working at her restaurant because of me, but now she can.

'Thank goodness Jong was caught.' I think with a smile.

I look over at Jackson and see him smiling back at me. I shyly look away and finish my meal.

"Hm... What should we do now?" Jackson was stretched out on my couch.

"Don't you need to go?"

"No way. I rather stay here." He rolled away and acted like he was asleep.

"Jackson I know you aren't asleep." He didn't move.

"Yah Jackson." I poke at his cheek. Suddenly he grabbed my hand and pulled me down with him. I landed on top of him and he wrapped his arms around my waist. My eyes widened when our noses touched.

"J-Jackson?" I stuttered.

"Shhh." He closed his eyes.

"Let me go." I struggled to get up. He's arms tightened around me.

"No. Just stay like this for a minute. I'm tired." I looked him over. I struggled a while longer but he wouldn't release me. Finally I gave up in frustration and laid my head on his chest. I almost dozed off but he spoke again.

"Why did you let JB kiss you?"

I froze. How did he even know?

"I saw you guys just so you know."

I close my eyes to avoid his question.

"Nari, I know you aren't asleep."

"I don't know Jackson. It just happened."

He was quite for a moment, "Do you like him?"

I thought about it. I really didn't know how I felt. I answered truthfully, "I'm not sure."

He was quite again. I was about to try to get up when he softly said, "What if I liked you?"

My heart sped up at his words. He let me go and I sat up. He stood up after me.

"I have to go. I'll see you later." He rushed out of the room.

"Jackson! Wait-" before I could finish I heard the front door slam closed.

'What just happened?'
