Elena walked through the dark and empty street all alone. She looked everywhere, she always thought there may be someone hidden. She reached for her keys in her bag. She came from her English class and she was really tired. All she wanted to do was to get home, go straight to her room and start studying for the two exams she had the next day.
She didn't want to study, she'd been thinking all day about throwing in the towel and give up studying because she felt like she couldn't take it anymore; she felt like her head was about to explode.
With all this thinking she didn't realize she was already at her door step.
"Hey Jenna! I'm home!" she said.
"Hey sweetie, how was your English class?" Jenna asked. She was actually really happy for Elena that she was in a reinforcement English class, because with all this going on, her grades had definitely gone down.
"Exhausting, boring, you know" she shrugged going upstairs to her room. She entered the room and placed her bag on the ground. Then left her keys on the nightstand and headed downstairs to grab something to eat. She was really starving.
"Hey Jenna wha- Damon? What are you doing here?"
"Is that a problem?" he said, his usual smirk on his beautiful face.
"No! Not at all. I'm just surprised that you're here, I didn't know you were coming over" she replied, trying to explain herself.
"Okay, can I talk to you for a minute?" he said, with a serious tone that she didn't like a bit. She felt he was worried and concerned and she was afraid something happened.
"Umm sure"
"And I'll leave you two so you can talk. Bye!" Jenna said, who was still standing in the kitchen. She understood that as her cue to leave. She really needed to leave though, she had to get dressed and prepared.
Now they were alone in the kitchen and Damon didn't know what to do. He knew he should start talking but he didn't want to.
"Damon, what's wrong? Did something happen?" she asked, worriedly.
"No, nothing wrong, nothing at all don't worry" he said catching her concerned tone "It's just that I need to tell you something".
"Ok" Elena said nodding her head, telling him to go on... She started to prepare her cereal and when he didn't tell her anything, she stopped and looked up at him. "Damon?"
"I'm leaving town" he said, looking everywhere but her.
"What?! Why?" she cried out. She feared there was something wrong and that he was never coming back to her. Ever.
"Don't worry, it won't take long. I have to go to Louisiana because I have some properties to take care of and some unfinished business. It shouldn't take me more than a week."
"Oh". That's all she managed to say. She felt like all her world was falling apart right there. Damon was her only constant in her life lately and she didn't want to lose him, not now not ever.
They were getting closer every day; since she broke up with Stefan and he was the one cheering her up and taking her to the movies, to dinner, to play pool at the Grill. He even got her drunk once.
