Damon arrived at the motel he was staying at in New Orleans. He got to his dirty, tiny room and lay on bed, with his arms crossed under his head, looking at the ceiling. It had been a tough day and he was tired, even if he was a vampire. But he was happy. Tomorrow he was coming back to Mystic Falls, coming back home, to her. So he got up from bed and started packing. Although coming back home meant having to face the music. He would have to tell Elena how he felt and that would be it. He thought it'd be the end of everything. But God, had he missed her. Every second of the day he'd missed her.
Also, he would have to tell her the truth. Because he lied to her. He wasn't there to take care of any properties, he was there because there was a really serious vampire problem and he'd had to deal with it. He hated lying to Elena and having to leave her alone in that stupid town knowing she could be in danger, but he'd had to.
When he finished packing he went to sleep, because tomorrow would be a long day, so when he closed his eyes he fell asleep. That night he dreamt of her.
Elena opened her eyes to find the darkness all around her. There wasn't a single sign of light in her room. She got up and opened her window, just to see more darkness. Ok, this is weird, she thought. She was getting scared, because in this town you never know what's waiting for you, even in your own house.
So she went back to bed and looked at her alarm.
3:45 am
It was still time to sleep, so she tried to go back to sleep, but she couldn't. So she switched the light on, grabbed her diary and started writing.
Dear diary,
It's almost four in the morning and I can't sleep. In fact, I'm nervous. Damon comes back today and I don't know what I'm going to tell him. I mean, I know, but I don't know how. I don't know how to raise the issue and what if he laughs at my face and doesn't want to see me ever again? It would ruin our friendship and I can't lose him.
Aaargh!! I don't know what to do!!
~Elena~
She left her diary in her desk and tried to go back to sleep. Failing again. So she decided to pick her favorite book, Wuthering Heights, and read it for the 10th time.
It was 8 am now and Elena had finished her book, so she got up from bed and went downstairs to have breakfast. Once downstairs, she made her way to the kitchen and grabbed the box of cereals and milk and prepared herself some breakfast. While she was eating, Elena heard someone coming down the stairs.
"Hi 'Lena!" Jeremy said.
"Hi Jer." she greeted him back.
"What are you doing today?"
"Jeremy," she started, staring at him with a 'duh' look "I've been waiting for this day the whole week. Damon comes home today. What do you think I'm going to do?"
"Ok 'Lena. No need to be rude..."
"Look I'm sorry, Jer. It's just that I'm very nervous."
"Okay 'Lena, I get it. You don't need to apologize. I know this is important to you."
"Thanks Jer." she said, giving him a brief hug.
Right in that moment, Jenna entered the kitchen.
"Hey kids, what's up!" Jenna said, very happy.
