Shawn
The day of Thanksgiving day luckily Jasmine was recovering well from her tonsils being taken out. Her voice would be raspy here and there in between times, but other than that she was fine.
Usually every thanksgiving isn't taken seriously by my family. Now my mom fully had a reason to.
"I want to make this the best Thanksgiving for Jasmine as possible."
My mom declared, wrapping an apron around her waist.
"Mom, you don't have to do all of this cooking." I persisted, but she still didn't budge on her choice.
"Oh, but I have to Shawn. Jasmine is a part of the Hunter clan now. Besides, she's going to meet our family members and you know how your aunt Justine feels about cooking. She will burn the trailer down." My mom stated. That statement was actually true. One year, my aunt Justine was tired of doing all of the cooking so she left the stove in sight and her trailer bursted into flames. She had to live with Grandma Hunter for three months as they were still refurnishing it. Now my mom took position as the chef for thanksgiving.
"Well, Shawn, if you want to, you could help me cook up the food. If we get it done now, we will be able to have Thanksgiving early." My mom preplanned, and I agreed to it.
Jasmine was still asleep, so she didn't know that we were cooking. Until she stepped out of the bedroom a couple hours later, when the smell was abruptly evaporating in the atmosphere.
"Hey, look who's finally awake." I teased. Jasmine just smiled slightly, her eyes being baggy form.
"What's that smell?" She asked, checking out the food.
"Thanksgiving dinner, that's what the smell is." My mom answered, wrapping an arm around her shoulder. Jasmine's eyes widened.
"The food looks great!" She exclaimed, her mouth watering.
"Thanks hun. It's all for you, especially you. This year you'll get a real family to spend Thanksgiving with." Mom responded, tucking a strand of Jasmine's hair behind her ear so it wouldn't be in her face.
"You get to meet the Hunter clan." I pointed out to her. Jasmine just smiled, and hugged me.
"I'm glad to be a part of your family now." Jasmine whispers, her voice a bit muffled through my chest. I smiled, stroking her hair and rubbed her back.
"I'm glad you're too."

We gotten ready for Thanksgiving this year. However, despite being excited, I was feeling slightly nervous especially for Jasmine's safety.
I was scared about the fact Eddie might be there, and his traumatizing gang.
"Dad, is Eddie going to be there?" I asked him, as he was getting ready in the bathroom.
"Yeah, why do you ask?" He wondered, his eyes not meeting off of the mirror as he was buttoning his shirt.
"Oh, alright." I sighed, disappointed. Then dad gave his undivided attention to me.
"Look Shawny, I know you don't like Eddie, but you've gotta be on your best behavior. I know how you are with Jasmine, and I know you two can't help but have rambles and rumbles, but you gotta do this for Jasmine. Make her have a decent thanksgiving." He said, resting a hand on my shoulder.
"That's true. But if he lays a hand on Jasmine- even if it's near, it's gunna get ugly dad." I warned him.
Dad sighed, but couldn't help but smile.
"You're a great boyfriend Shawny." He praised me, patting my back.

Jasmine
We were almost ready for thanksgiving. I was just changing into an outfit to wear, and I admit, I was nervous to meet Shawn's family. I hoped they would like me.
The only ones that I knew liked me were Shawn, his parents, and his uncle Mike. But I heard that "Grandma Hunter" was stubborn; she was hard to like anyone outside of her family. I decided to sit on the bed, until it was time to go. Suddenly, Shawn's mom had come in.
"Hey Jasmine. You ready to go?" She asked, sitting down on the bed next to me.
"Yeah, I am," I answered,"just nervous that's all. Is that a bad thing to be nervous?"
"No of course not, its normal. Don't be though. You'll get accepted, I know you will." His mom promised, wrapping her arms around me enticing her into a warm, bear hug.
"Thank you." I said to her. Afterwards, she had kissed me on the forehead, and we walked out of the room to find Shawn and his dad in the living room waiting patiently.
"Well, we've been holding the food for about 10 minutes now. Can we leave now or what?" Shawn's dad persisted, being impatient. His impatience had struck us with bursting laughter. We knew it was time to go.

Since most of Shawn's family lived in the trailer park too, we didn't take the truck. It was just walking distance. When we had arrived, Shawn's dad knocked on the door and Uncle Mike had answered.
"Shawny! Chet! Verna! Jasmine!" He exclaimed, his attitude very welcoming.
This was going to be a long day.
