Shawn
High school this year is starting to become rough for me. I know normally grade wise it was, but I meant as in relationship status. I couldn't keep mine with Jennifer, because it wasn't just her that was the problem. There was love captivated for Jasmine. And seeing her with that scrub wasn't helping me whatsoever. I was even beginning to act weird, and we already solemnly agreed to just be friends. I know I had to find another girl, besides. I hurt Jasmine, and I regret everything. I didn't even welcome her properly like I should of, when she returned back from New York.
I began to dread this day from the moment my eyelids opened, capturing one lingering glimpse of the half light room. I groaned to the sound of my buzzing alarm clock then shutting it off afterwards. I prefer to grab it and throw it out the window, but I knew someone from nearby would steal it as a collectible. It's what trailer park avengers did.
I dressed into a pair of pants, slipped on a shirt, with a top jacket over it, unbuttoned and comfortably loose.
I had my hair tendrils falling deeply into my face, appearing shadowy in the early moonlight when I stepped outside. I didn't wake up to my dad or anything, as I knew he was sleeping in a hovered slumber. My backpack overlapped my shoulder, and stepped out onto the refurbished gravel. I sighed, wishing I didn't have to see or meet with Jasmine at all today. I didn't even want to catch a glance at her and boyfriend kissing directly in front of me. It's like someone purposely shivers a movie into a VHS box and forced me to watch something I didn't wanna view. As I tried to slip out of my thoughts, my eyes adjusted contact with a window. There stood a dark shadowy figure into the distance, and I squinted my eyes, to try and catch a glimpse of them. My face fell, slowly realizing the shadow revealed to be the one and only dominant figure I needed in my life.
It was my mother.

Once I headed to school, I kept it to myself. I mean, if I spoke anything of this, I feel like as if it would only hurt me in the end, and turn out to be a fabled fluke. As if I was only seeing things my mind made up. That's just how my life was.
Especially from Jasmine, it was hard to keep a secret from, but fortunately for me, my mind refused me to talk to her since she was with boyfriend every time.
However, as much as I wanted this to remain silent, and to myself, I couldn't help but gain excitement at lunch. I rushed into the lunch room and informed him before he could even sit down.
"Cory, Cory, I have a problem." I informed him, and he just simply smiled.
"Oh, you never let me down, Shawn. "How long has it been since I've seen my mother?" I interrogated him secondly.
"You mean since she took her little vacation?"
"She ran away. She ran away for a year, Cory. Deal with it. I have."
Cory began to become smitten with concern, deepening his feelings.
"And you're doing much better."
"Thanks, now how long has it been since I've seen my mother?" I questioned him, and he shrugged.
"I don't know."
"How long has it been?" I repeated my question.
"A minute?"
"She was right across the street at the Trailer View Motel. She was looking through the window at our trailer," I explained to him,"Cory, my mom's back."
Suddenly Cory's eyes lifted and searched. I instantly knew right away, he was trying to find Jasmine. His eyes stopped moving once he found her, which she was talking and cuddling her boyfriend.
"You have to tell her Shawn." Cory responded, trying to smile.
I couldn't help but focus on them. There she was, laughing about something Evan was saying, and there it happened. Out in the open, he gave her a giant kiss on the lips for no reason. Just doing this out of love.
Cory nudged me to go inform her, especially since a couple years ago she practically lived with me. My mother was her leading mother figure starting from her high school years.
I sighed, knowing he was right.
"Okay." I attempted at trailing towards Jasmine's table, which automatically, she peered up at me.
"Oh hey Shawn, does your head feel better?" She asked me politely. It was amazing how still even after yesterday, she remained to be nice to me.
"Uh, yeah. Jasmine, may I talk to you in private?" I asked her, gaining the courage. I noticed that her boyfriend didn't appear to happy when I showed up. She nodded, kissing him on the cheek and whispering something in his ear. She stood up, and allowed me to lead her to the hallway where we could talk in private.
"So, what's up Shawn?" She placed a seat on the bench, crossing her legs and interested in listening to what I had to say.
"Well, today before I headed to school, I saw this figure in the window in the trailer view motel, and I got a good look at who it was, which it was my mom. My mom is back, Jas. I know it sounds weird, but I swear, I saw her. I'm afraid to confront her but I know she was there. I saw her curly hair and everything." I explained to her, and her eyes widened.
"You know, I saw a lock of curly hair yesterday, it looked similar to hers, but I wasn't so sure if it was her." She admitted. Wait, yesterday? She spotted the same woman, that gave birth to me, and she didn't ring the phone or tell me?
"And you didn't tell me?" I was hurt.
She stood up, her breasts arising with her through her blouse. Not helping, Jasmine.
"Well I was going to, but it's been kind of awkward between us." She says, fiddling with her fingers.
"Oh, I'm not mad about it, I mean, I was thinking if after school, you could maybe come over? Get this all situated and figured out?" I suggested to her, hoping for her to say yes. I don't see why she wouldn't, unless she had a date with him.
"Yeah sure, I mean, Evan has a long football practice today, and my aunt is working a night shift. I guess it could give us a chance to help us bond as friends better." She answered yes, which made me smile.
"Sounds like a great idea." I confided in agreement. We both continued to smile at each other until the bell rang, causing us to go to our next classes.

I couldn't believe what Shawn told me. His mom was back, who was basically like my third mom in a way, second being my aunt of course. And I was actually going to meet up with his family again...
I wondered how his dad was, especially. Ever since his dad came back, him and Shawn at least bonded more, but not a whole lot. This caused him to be nervous, I could tell as I met up with him and walked to the trailer park.
"Uh, can we stop here for a minute? I just need to think." Shawn excused himself, gritting his teeth and formed an anxious grin.
"Shawn, this is the fifth time you've tried pausing us from going to the trailer park. What is this, a race? You're acting like the turtle, although a turtle could even beat you!" I pointed out.
"I know, it's just.." I noticed be began to stumble with his words. He appeared to fidget with his fingers, losing concentration of what he was trying to speak.
"Just what?"
"It is just what if my mom doesn't want to come back? What if I scare her off? I'm just afraid I'll chase her away. I know it was because of me." Right now, I noticed he needed a hug. I suddenly wrapped my arms around him, enticing into my hold. I must of taken him by surprise, as it took him a while to adjust by slowly wrapping his arms around me too, embracing the hold.
I rubbed his back, standing here in front of these crowds of people to comfort him. It's been a while since I felt everything like this. For instance, the sound of his silent breathing was easy to here if you patiently were focused on him. The scent of him was appealing too, consisting of a rare  remedy you just wanted to discover, establish it as your one and only. And his touch, was so gentle, it just wanted you to hold him more.
Finally, I pulled away, losing my train of thought. His eyes searched my expression, seeing what it conceived of.
"Thank you," was all he could make out,"I needed that."
"Yeah, no problem. Now, let's go."

Jasmine just hugged me. She had no idea how much it still meant to me. The way her hair felt, all bristled and soft after a long school day. The smell of her perfume contracted with me holding her against me. It's as if the world took us, and fabricated an everlasting scent that was only defined by us.
Our one and only.
Once we made it to my trailer, there sat dad, portraying his regular role of doing absolutely nothing except drink marathon bottles of beer.
"Uh, hey dad." I greeted him, and his eyes peered to us. He spotted Jasmine, his eyes widening and instantly becoming excited.
"Well, if it isn't my daughter-in-law!"
He joked, reaching in to pull her into a hug. He squeezed her tight, but also pulled her away so she could speak.
"How have you been sweetheart?" He asked her, grasping his beer still in his hand.
"I've been good." She simply answered, the two of us exchanging an anxious glance.
"Great! That's wonderful, why, looks like we've got ourselves a little reunion here!" He declared, gleeful.
"Uh, yeah, about that dad, guess who will be joining us for that." I added.
"Lemme guess, it's your mom." He chuckled and cracked up laughing, assuming my statement to be a joke like always. I remained silent and serious, then slowly, he understood.
"You're not kidding, are you?"
:::
"You're telling me for the last year I've traipsed across these United States searching for my long lost Virna and you find her right across the highway?"
My dad had the reaction just as I was expecting him to have. Complete, dwelling shock.
"It's her, Dad. She's been watching us." I replied again.
"How long she been there? How's she look? When's she comin' home?" He jumbled a bunch of questions that stressed me out just as much.
"I don't know. I haven't gone over there yet." I admitted to him, and he furrowed his eyebrows.
"Why not? I'm afraid I'm gonna chase her away again."
He sighed, standing up from his chair, meeting up with his.
"You didn't chase her away. You're the only reason she stayed here as long as she did. And Jasmine, you were the daughter she always dreamt of having. When you came and resided with this family, you helped us make this a better family."
"Thanks, Dad." I thanked him.
"Thank you." Jasmine returned the same gesture as me to him.
"Why's she over there spyin' on us? Hey, she's probably after my secret plans." He pointed out, heading over to the fridge to grab a can of coke instead.
By secret plans, he meant ones that would situate us financially, or aid with our family.
Suddenly, Jasmine stepped into the conversation.
"We have got to do something at least, maybe I can try to help you get her back. Girl to girl talk. I could help." Jasmine offered.
"Girl and the momma talking, that's perfect! How about after school tomorrow, you arrange to meet up here and you Jasmine can walk over then talk to her?" He suggested the idea to her, and she nodded.
"Sounds good." She confirmed, settling with the new plan to win Mom back.
Finally, I'm going to get Mom back. How much I missed her- maybe once she's back, everything will turn back to normal. And by normal, I can have Jasmine back.

I couldn't believe Shawn's mom was back. I was actually going to talk to the figure I once cherished my momentums with through motherly advice on the start of my high school career tomorrow.
Because of this, this caused me and Shawn to assess a closer bondage in friendship. After I left his trailer, he gave me another hug, but a quick one. Although it was a thank you hug, we still embraced it. As for Evan, I knew I couldn't tell him about this, especially about my hugs with Shawn. I could tell that there was some heating tension arising between them already, wether if it was a glare, it was easy to interpret it.
Luckily again, Evan had another football practice and he was having a few friends over right afterwards, so that gave me some time to talk to Shawn's mom.
I met up with Shawn again after school, which everyone was raising suspension about us hanging out.
"What? Can a girl and her best friend who happens to be her ex hang out?" I muttered under my breath so he wouldn't hear and get offended at my comment. When we made it to the trailer park, I told Shawn I would be right there. To tell his dad that I would be talking to the woman who fed us and cared for us when she was at the trailer park. The other woman in the house I could obtain worthy advice from. I watched Shawn as he headed to the trailer. Until he was gone, and becoming a tiny specked figure, it was my cue to head in. I turned my attention to the motel, and gulped. Now I was beginning to feel how he was.
I stepped towards the motel room that was straight across from her old trailer, taking careful steps. When I was within inches, I knocked on the door lightly, my knuckle shaking. I inhaled and exhaled deep breaths, making sure I wouldn't ruin this on accident or purpose. The first time, there was no answer. I did it again a second time, which was more louder and reluctant. Due to this, I became face to face with his mom.
"Jasmine, I've been expecting you."
