Babies and Bad Timing
Part One"Are you okay, Rose? Where's Mason?" Fi asked me the next morning as I climbed into Ethan's car.
I had barely slept the night before after Mason had stood outside my door and made confession after confession. But I nodded and smiled and said, "Yeah, I'm fine but Mase wasn't well. How about you? Any word from Riley?"
Fi groaned in frustration. "Nothing! I tried calling him last night but the number wasn't in service. Do you think something's happened to him?"
"Did you say the big L to him?" Ethan asked from the front seat.
"No," Fi replied.
"Did you tell him you're pregnant?"
"God! Ethan!" she exclaimed, leaning forward to hit her brother on the shoulder.
"Wait a minute," I said, grabbing Fiona's arm and turning her to face me. "You're pregnant?"
Fi sighed. "I'm sure it's nothing. I didn't, you know, start last month, that's all. But yes, I did tell Riley that I might be pregnant."
I shook my head in disbelief at my best friend. "But you used protection, right? Every time?"
She began fiddling with her phone in her hands. "Well . . . not every time . . ."
I let out a frustrated groan and whacked her on the arm. "Fi!"

It was strange, sitting at the cafeteria table with only Fi to keep me company. These last few weeks, I'd gotten so used to hanging out with Riley and Mase that it was weird for them not to be around.
I thought about Riley and how likely it was that he'd run off because Fi might be pregnant. I honestly doubted it since he'd only ever been caring and supportive toward her. He may not have wanted a baby at seventeen, but he would have told Fiona that, rather than leave her to face it all alone.
Then there was Mason. I felt awful for what I'd done last night. Not only because it wasn't fair for me to be so hot and cold with him but also because I'd really wanted to kiss him and tell him exactly how I felt. But Fi was right. I needed to steer clear of guys with depression. Ever since-
"Rose, have you heard a word I've said?" Fi demanded.
I grinned sheepishly. "Uh, yes?"
She rolled her eyes. "Yeah, and I'm the queen of France." With that, she grabbed my hand and dragged me out of the cafeteria because the bell had just rung.

I couldn't have been happier when Ethan dropped me off out the front of my house. "Bye! I'll see you tomorrow!" I called over my shoulder as I headed toward the front door.
I tossed my book bag onto the sofa in the living room and walked into the kitchen to make myself a sandwich.
PB and J in hand, I climbed the stairs to my room. I had homework I needed to do but the first thing I did was pull out my sketchbook.
It had been ages since I'd drawn anything and I needed to bring something in for my art class anyway.
After I'd been sketching for close to two hours, I decided to check on Mason. I hadn't heard anything from him all day. I walked next door and knocked, receiving no answer.
With a sigh and hoping everything was alright, I pushed the door open . . .
Hey, guys! An upload first thing in the morning! I just want to say a big thank you to Sup_ppl_luv_ya for all of her support! I love you all! <3
