A Birthday and a Bad Decision
Part One

"Paaarrrttty!"

"Fi, what on earth are you talking about?" I asked down the phone in confusion.

"I got us invited to a party!" she squealed.

I groaned. "No, Fi. I don't want to go to a party. When have I ever expressed any interest in going to a party?"

"Please, please, please!" she begged excitedly. "I'll love you forever!"

I sighed. "You already love me forever after I paid for your chai latte yesterday, remember?" I tried to remain strong in my resolve, but Fi was my best friend . . . "When is this damn party, anyway?"

Fi screamed excitedly down the phone. "Tonight! I love you, Rose! Be ready by eight!" With that, she hung up.

I groaned. I was far too tired to go to a party tonight. I had been awake with Mase since 4:00 am and even though I drank about three cups of coffee per hour, I was feeling the effects of sleep deprivation.

Nevertheless, Fi was my best friend and it was obvious that if I didn't go, she wouldn't either. And she really wanted to go.

I sketched for a few hours before I decided that it wasn't too early to start getting ready. I took a quick shower and wrapped my hair in a towel. Hopefully it wouldn't be too frizzy.

Padding back across the hall in nothing but a towel, I prayed that Mason wouldn't come out. He didn't and I made it to my bedroom unseen.

Now, what the hell was I supposed to wear to a party anyway? A dress? I grimaced at the idea. I pulled out a pair of nice skinny jeans and slipped them on. They were my most comfortable pair, so that was a bonus.

I then pulled a grey tank top over my head, a long white cardigan over that and a pair of black sandals onto my feet.

Unraveling my long hair from my towel, I scrutinised my reflection in my closet mirror. My light brown waves would be fine with a brush through, and I didn't like makeup, so I guessed I was ready.

Which was a good thing, I realised as I glanced at my phone. It was already 8:00 pm! Since when did it take me an hour and a half to get dressed? Ugh, Fi had better consider herself lucky. I was doing this for her.

I heard the front door open downstairs and knew Fi was here. Only she would waltz in like she owned the place. I headed down to meet her, calling goodbye to Mase and hoping he would be okay until I got back.

When Fi came into view, I admired her beauty, and not for the first time either.  Her shoulder-length blonde hair was now slightly curly and she was wearing a light denim skirt with a green halter top and a pair of white wedges. Her makeup was perfect and and had a little handbag on a string.

"You look great!" she exclaimed, hugging me.

I laughed. "Have you seen yourself?"

When we headed outside, I found that Fi's brother, Ethan was waiting in his Chevy. So he would be driving us then. Of course Fi wasn't going to walk in heels.

The drive was quiet and uneventful, but when we pulled up outside the house, I could tell the party was going to be anything but. Music was pumping, not too loudly, but loud enough, through the walls and I had a sneaking suspicion that there was some underage drinking going on.

I sighed. Well tonight should be fun...

Hey guys! So this is actually just part one of this chapter... It ended up being longer than I anticipated. So next chapter will be the actual party! I hope you enjoy! Love you all! <3
