dark

the dimly lit houses partially covered by trees, is not something i had thought of missing.
although while driving through i felt as if i had been waiting for it.
to see the darkness overcoming the dull yellow lights the house had.
to have the trees aid the darkness in controlling where the light was able to reach.
the light stretches out to touch me for a moment, then retracts its hand.
the gloomy and dreary looks the houses give me as they sigh from the years they've been forced to stand.
the sidewalks and roads ache from the rough treatment they have had year after year.
age shows in some areas where they crack, unable to keep their youthful complexion.
the darkened trees reach out to me as well, not being able to reach me before i've sped away.
the darkness and age of a place i hadn't visited in a year brought comfort back to me.
as i aged, so have they.
