Claudia's POV:
"Hey Clau, how's it going?" Savannah comes besides me and starts a conversation with me. I smile at her as I walk to my locker.
"Uhhhhhhh I'm hanging in here," I half lied. Recently, dad has been coming home at 2am every night, since he's working later and stopping by the bar for 2 hours for a drink. My point is, I haven't been getting any beatings, and I can steal food from time to time.
"That's good, so are you going to homecoming?" Sav gets all giddy and starts jumping up and down.
I shake my head. "No I'm not going, you?"
"Yes, of course I'm going!" Sav answers a bit too fast, and I raise my brows, as a grin starts to creep into my lips.
"With who?" I wiggle my eyebrows.
"I'm going with-" Sav is soon interrupted by one of the devil's spawn himself. Neal.
"Hey baby," Neal keeps the smirk visible on his lips, but what he does next brings my eyes put of my skull.
Wrapping his arms around Sav' petite body, he kisses her. Like really kiss her. Kaleb and I's encounter a few nights ago swarms my mind.
Staring at them with my mouth hanging open, the rest of the guys join us. With my mouth still slightly open, Sav pulls away and smiles shyly at me.
"Claudia, meet my date, Neal Calvinsteer." Sav shyly tucks a strand of hair behind her ear nervously.
"He's your date!?" I dramatically groan.
I know it's not my place to worry for her, and I know I should keep my mouth shut, since I'm basically a nobody I was just wanted the best for her.
"So, Clau, speaking of homecoming, why not one of these guys take you huh?" Sav wiggles her brows and tangles our arms together.
"No!" I blurt out in disbelief. Is she serious!? No way in hell am I getting my ass dragged to hell with one of the devil's sons himself! Although my home is a version of hell, more painful.
"C'mon Clau, it'll be fun! Besides, I have no girlfriends to hangout with." Sav pouts and Neal jumps in.
"Watch it, you have me and me only, you don't need her for your company," Neal jokes, pulling Sav away from me, and there I am, on my own on one side as the 5 of them stand opposite from me.
"Ivan, do you have a date? Take Claudia!" Sav pleads, but Ivan just gives me a pitty look.
"Sorry darling, but I'm taking Vienna," Ivan scratches his head nervously. At this moment, I wish the lockers would just suck me in.
"Grayson, what about you? Are you going? I mean of course you're going, take Claudia!" Sav pouts, and Grayson just gives me an apologetic look.
"I bought tickets for one already." Grayson says, and I feel my throat close up. This is like picking teams, except you're the last person who is picked!
Looking over at Sav, I smile with no effort at all. "It's fine Sav, I'm not going anyways. I'll be busy," I whispered, and turned on my heel.
Grabbing my textbook, I lock my locker and turn to walk, but stop when Kaleb speaks up.
"I'll take her." turning back around, I look Kaleb straight in the eyes as I point at him.
"Nu uh, I am not going to Homecoming with you! Definitely not!" I spoke up, and it surprised all of us, me included.
"Well it seems like none of them wants you, at least appreciate me taking you," Kaleb shrugs.
"Ohh so I'm an object now?" I laughed in disbelief. "Its fine, I'm not going anyways, don't want to." I shrug. "And besides, arent you taking Melody?" I shoot and Kalebs smirk falls a bit.
"Nope." Kaleb simply shrugs, popping the 'p'. "And you're going with me. Point blank." With that, Kaleb turns around before I could answer.
I feel my facade crack.
===========
"So Clau, I was thinking we could go dress shopping since Homecoming is in like, oh I don't know, 2 days?" Sav offers sarcastically and I shrug.
"I don't know Sav, I don't know if I can afford a nice enough dress to match Kaleb you know? I mean, with a snap of his fingers, he can get a $700 suit in a mere second!" I exaggerated.
"Nonsense Clau, c'mon I can help you!" Sav drags me into her sports car that she personally bought. Being friends with a very rich girl like Sav, I don't know how I even fit in. She's rich, perfect, hangs out with the 'KINGS', has a perfect body, and is super smart, and yet she hangs out with a fraud like me.
==========
"Choose." Sav points to the 15 dresses she ordered me to try on.
"Sav, I can't they're too expensive, I can't even afford the lipstick you're buying for me!" I protested, as I cross my arms across my chest.
"Okay Claudia Jones, you will choose, cause each one of the guys will be matching their dates somehow, so choose." Sav pushes and I groan.
2 hours later, Sav and I are leaving the mall with all our makeup, dresses, heels, and hair tools.
Knowing that Dan won't get off work until midnight, and he always stops at the bar for an hour or two, meaning he'll be home by 3 or 2, I know I'll be home before he notices.
I don't want Sav to go to my house and see the mess and the items Dan beats me with, so I agreed to getting ready at her place on the day of Prom.
