Cassidy was my main priority. I run past Chloe not caring to check whether or not she was unconscious or had a pulse. My heart is racing when I crouch down to Cassidy's still form, placing a gentle hand on her arm.

"Please be okay." I mutter under my breath hopelessly.

She groans just a few moments later.

"Sam?" she says groggily.

"I'm here" I respond gently

She stirs and my shoulders drop in relief when her eyes open. I hadn't realized how tense I had become.

Cassidy groans again, "did we get that brat?"

Laughter escapes my lips as I tilt my head back. Cassidy slaps my leg. I sober up real fast after that.

"Can you sit up?" I ask her in concern.

She nods slowly. My breath catches in my throat when I see her arm, not noticing the blood until now, "you're bleeding."

Her eyebrows furrow as she twists her shoulder forward so she could analyze the back of her arm. The wound was covered in blood, but you could tell the cut was large. When Chloe had attacked Cassidy, she flew back toward the scrapyard. I look up to see blood dripping off of a jagged piece of metal.

"Are you up on your shots?" I ask intently

Cassidy's face pales, "n-no... why?"

I send her a sympathetic smile, "you're going to have to get a tetanus shot back at headquarters."

She clenches her jaw. I watch her eyes shift to glance over my left shoulder. Her eyes narrow into a glare.

"So help me, I might kill that girl if she's not already dead."

My eyebrows rise and I follow her gaze over to Chloe's motionless body. I sigh, pushing hands against my thighs before standing. I had to follow League protocol.

Chloe looks almost peaceful with her eyes shut. Her olive skin has become pale, most likely because she had been weakened by me. A sad sigh leaves my lips as I bend down. She was much too young to live this life. From what I saw earlier this life she led was cumbersome. My finger presses against her neck to check for a pulse. Her skin is still quite warm, so that was a good sign. A slight rhythmic throbbing can be felt on my finger tip. She was still alive.

"What's the verdict Sam?" Cassidy asks, stopping beside me. I glance at her quickly.

A frown pulls her lips slightly downward. Before I can respond, white and blue LED lights illuminate the space around us. Two black Audi Q7's pull in followed by an ambulance shortly after. The gravel crunches against their tires until they stop ten feet away.

A door opens from the second SUV revealing a disgruntled Roy Slater. His eyes lower to the ground by my feet before he walks over.

"Would you like to do the honors, or shall I?" his gruff voice asks Cassidy and me.

Cassidy shakes her head, "you two can decide. A paramedic needs to check out my arm," she finishes with disdain. She knew the news they gave her wouldn't be the greatest. Cassidy hated needles.

Roy raises his eyebrows while his nose scrunches in disgust.

"That'd be wise."

Cassidy scoffs, "Thank you Roy, "she says with an eye roll, patting his shoulder before passing him. She doesn't give Chloe a second glance as she steps around her body. I watch Cassidy walk away as another agent from the first vehicle greets her halfway to the ambulance.

"So... you want too, or shall I? Personally I think you should after what she did to your face," Roy acknowledges by nodding toward Chloe. "Not to mention, she went after your girl."

I sigh. "Technically we can't do anything until the prison transport gets here," I respond after pursing my lips.

"Nah- that's not going to happen," Roy acknowledges.

"What do you mean by that?"

"I got orders from the man upstairs. She's to be brought to the League hospital for further analysis."

That fact got me curious, "did Xavier ...?"

Roy nods, "That would be correct."

Two paramedics clad in a black uniform pushing a gurney disrupt our conversation. They lower it to the ground and go on either side of Chloe, picking her up and moving her off of the ground. Roy removes handcuffs from his utility belt passing them to me.

The paramedics step back for a brief moment as I secure the cuffs around Chloe's wrist.

"Don't underestimate her if she wakes up. Drug her if you have too." I make eye contact with the paramedic with the star on his right shoulder. He had seniority over his co-worker.

"Yes sir"

Roy and I watch while they wheel Chloe away. The agent talking to Cassidy dismisses her when the paramedics load Chloe into the ambulance. A soft thud sounds after the back doors shut. Cassidy makes her way over to us once they have driven away. A thick bandage is wrapped around her arm.

"I don't need stitches, but I have to get that stupid tetanus shot when I get to headquarters." She grumbles.

"Could be worse princess," Roy says as a matter of fact, wearing an amused smile.  She grimaces in response.

"First of all don't call me princess Roy- secondly, I'm ready to leave this place. The others can bag and tag evidence."

"I agree with that," I say back.

"Ditto" Roy adds.

Sorry that this is a filler chapter. Next chapter will be jam packed. So stay tuned! :)
