The arrogant fire endowed counters by throwing a speeding ball of flames my way. A small force field forms in front of my chest. The powerful flames hiss against my shield while embers fly off the sides and fall to the floor. This little standoff we were having had to be cut short and I knew exactly how to do so. Steadily approaching footsteps sound behind me and I know Sam is coming. A slow smirk forms on my face.

"First things first," I say as a matter of fact.

Aura forms in both of my hands. The agent in front of me raises an eyebrow in speculation. I twist my body to look over my shoulder. Sure enough, Sam was sprinting down the opposing hall toward the automated doors. Our eyes meet briefly-sky blue against light brown with silver flecks. His eyes are filled with determination-mine with a mischievous glint. I lift my left hand to wave at him right as I create a force field barricade.

Sam stops in front of the door and slams his clenched fist against the door shouting some sort of profanity but his voice is muffled. Our gazes are locked for a few more seconds before I turn around.

"Now the games begin."

The fire endowed agent's normally stoic and defined features show a hint of hesitance. I lift my hands surrounded with bright aura. Two more force fields form in front of me- one in front of each hand. The next move is going to test my limits to the fullest. Controlling two force fields was a feat in itself, but three-that was something else entirely.

The force fields jolt forward and shoot toward the agent with incredulous speed. Beads of sweat form on my forehead as I will them to switch positions. The thin walls of aura trap the fire endowed in the center. His eyes show a hint of amazement before worry forms. My previous smirk is plastered against my face. This agent wasn't used to meeting someone stronger than him. He met his match, and I wasn't even finished yet.

Fire swirls to life, encasing the aura around my hands. The flames quickly spread to just above my elbows. My opponent realizes quickly that he was in real trouble. I had him right where I wanted. There was absolutely nothing he could do to get out of this now. Panic finally sets in his widening hazel eyes. A battle cry escapes my lips as my feet propel me forward. The sheer force of the two shields pressing into the well-built agent causes him to fall down onto his knees. The bridge of his nose wrinkles as he winces in pain.

Once I am nearly in front of the fire endowed, I front flip over his body. The thin walls of aura are set on fire as they rotate positions creating a cage around the agent. I land on the balls of my feet and swivel around to face my opponent. His tall frame is a crumpled mess lying unconscious on the ground. The floor is scorched where the flames had touched. I smile triumphantly down at him.

Not many aura endowed individuals-if any- around my age were able to accomplish that move set. A loud banging resonates in my ears. My eyes scan the area until they find the source. I mock curtsy at Sam whose gaze has turned murderous. The force field in front of the door starts to flicker in and out. For the first time ever I was beginning to feel exhausted. I had to make my exit- and fast, or suffer the consequences of assaulting League agents on their home turf.

My sights were set on another set of double doors leading out of the emergency wing of the hospital. Adrenaline pumps through my veins once I hear the echoes of quickening footsteps behind me. Come on-come on- come on- OPEN. The doors are taking their sweet old time moving.

I slip my way through the narrow opening, pushing my way through to an open lobby. The ceilings are high giving the place an airy vibe. The walls are painted a light crème and the floors are made out of a dark stained wood. Even though the room should have been bustling with energy, not a single soul was anywhere to be seen.

I had wasted precious time and energy by surveying the surrounding area. Argon would not be pleased about not getting those blueprints, but my survival is more important. My future punishment under his hands would not be pleasant. Freedom from the League on the other hand justified what I had awaiting me. Just before my hand could wrap around the door handle, ear-splitting alarms ring out. Metal barricades drop from the top of the floor to ceiling windows. The room darkens significantly before lights hum back to life.

"There is absolutely nowhere you can go- we have you trapped Chloe." Sam's stern voice makes me turn on my heels.

His arms are crossed against his sculptured chest and a scowl downturns his lips. Five other agents have accompanied him. Each agent is wearing black tactical gear-including League issued laser guns. I was severely outnumbered, especially due to my weakened state- a state I was not used to being in.

Then again I haven't taken the shot Argon normally gave me in at least a couple days either. In fact- I had not gone a day without having the light golden fluid injected into my system for the past five years. That was a separate matter I'd have to investigate at another time. The only way to get those much-needed answers was to take all of these agents head on.

Hey everyone, I'm back! My laptop does need replacing soon, but is still in working order as of now. I don't know what happened...so that will remain a mystery...

On another note, SURPRISE UPDATE! Sorry I'm over-excited since this will be the first chapter I've updated on Sunday for a very....long time. I apologize that, but a girl has to support herself. Sadly writing doesn't pay me, so my two jobs are super important.

Hmmm...what is this mystery fluid Argon has been giving Chloe...?  I'd love to hear your thoughts and theories. Let me know what your thoughts are in the comment section below. Love getting feedback from you guys, super inspiring! I don't know when I will have the opportunity to update another chapter, but I will be keeping you all updated.

Have a great rest of your day and thanks for taking time to read Initiation! :)
