The next few weeks hadn't been very eventful.
School happened and I was, of course, assigned a ton of homework. I had two English essays to write, a History project to do, math packets to complete and a big physics test to study for.
Why did high school have to suck so much?
Not to mention the fact that Mackenzie has gone out of her way to make my life at school miserable. Whenever I got in the lunch line, at least one of her little followers made it their job to shove me around and attempt to spill my lunch.
That girl obviously hasn't heard the word 'no' enough in her life.
I simply ignored them all, focussing on Amelia and Whitney. We had our own special table outside that we would always meet at.
"Hey guys," I said, sitting down at said table. Reaching in to my bag, I pulled out a lunch box. I decided it wasn't worth being pushed around in line for crappy food.
"I see you finally joined or side," Whitney said, nodding towards my lunch box. "There's a reason we never buy school lunch."
"I don't get why she hates you guys so much," I said, hinting that they should tell me why.
"Well, for me," Amelia said, sighing. "She hates me because I used to be part of the cheer squad. I was part of her little pack before I got sick and tired of the way she treated us and everyone else."
"And I used to do her homework for her before I stopped," Whitney shrugged. "She didn't like having to do her own work."
"Wow," I said, not really knowing what to say. "Well, I am definitely glad you guys have seen the light."
"Us too," Amelia said with a grin. "School became a lot easier and I actually made an actual friend. Well, two now."
The three of us giggled, all silently agreeing.
"Hello ladies!" A body suddenly appeared, sitting next to me.
"Dalton?"
"Hello beautiful," he said, winking at me. He reached down and pulled out a brown paper bag, dumping out the contents of his lunch.
"Hello!"
"Tyler?" I said, getting more confused. Looking up, I saw Luke also sitting down at our table with us.
Amelia, Whitney and I looked at each other confusedly.
"What's up?" Luke asked, pulling out his own lunch.
"Uh, why are you guys here?" Amelia asked boldly.
"Because we go to this school?" Dalton replied, eating practically half of his sandwich in one bite. No wonders he had three of them.
"No, what are you doing here, at our lunch table with us?" Whitney clarified.
"What, is it illegal to sit with friends?" Luke asked.
The three of us looked at each other, not really knowing what to do. Simultaneously, grins spread on our faces. They thought of us as friends. That night at the bonfire they said we should all hang out again. That was three weeks ago. Until now, nothing had happened.
Of course, I said hi to them in the halls and talked to them in class, but we never actually hung out. The only one I sort of hung out was with Luke, and that was because he drove me to and from school.
"No, I guess not," I said, resuming my eating. "I guess we can allow you guys to sit with us."
"Wow, I feel so honored," Luke said sarcastically. I stuck my tounge out at him, earning a giggle from Amelia and Whitney. The three of them sat with us the entire lunch, all of us cracking jokes at each other and really having a good time. It was nice having some friends who were guys. Things were always interesting.
