Chapter 22: Escape The Forest

Brair's P.O.V.
"So are they Never Fern's then?" I ask.

"I'm afraid not. We have to move." Hunter grabs his bow and starts to climb down the tree.

"What's going on?" Ashlyn wakes up and rubs her eyes.

"We're in danger. Ashlyn. Never Fern Forest." Hunter tells his girlfriend.

Ashlyn's eyes almost pop out of her head at Hunter's last sentence.

"We have to move." She gets up and jumps down the tree. "We shouldn't be here. This place is forbidden."

"Why is it forbidden?" I ask and I climb down the tree.

"All who enter, are at a huge risk. It's called Never Fern Forest for a reason. It was once known for its beautiful ferns, but soon evil monsters were discovered in it. They're the worst in all of Ever After. It's forbidden because your, sure to die."

I gulp.

Sudden the forest lights up. The light source is coming from every direction. I blink, twice to make sure I'm seeing clearly. Their are thousands of eyes peering out at us.

"Run!" Hunter shouts as we dash off into the forest.

The birds with glowing eyes fly after us.

I scream. I'm running as fast as I can go. I turn around the look at the terrifying creatures. I haven't seen everything like them in Ever After before. They have huge blue beaks and red and yellow body's. Written on every one of their heads is a EQ. When I turn around again. I just miss a tree branch. Then realize I am missing something. My friends. I'm all alone. Just then I trip.

Great timing , I think to myself.

"Help!" I scream at the top of my lungs.

The birds are about to reach me when two hands pull me up into a tree overhead of me.

"Hunter! You saved me!" I say excitedly.

"Think again, sunshine."

It's not Hunter, but a-

"Witch!"

"I am the Witch of Never Fern Forest. I wasn't expecting all full coarse dinner, tonight."

I step back and I hear a crunching sound. Bones. She eats kids.

"Well, how would you like to be served. With salt or pepper?" The Witch sarcastically asks.

I turn around and try to find a door. They way I came up, it's gone.

There's no door. There's no escape.

"Don't try it sweet heart. Oh your a beauty aren't you? Well I may not eat you. I may have something else for you." The witch looks me over.

I step back from her. My back makes contact with a wall. I'm cornered.

The Witch approaches me. "Your stuck with me, sweet heart." All I know is that she grabbed me and it was over.

The Witches P.O.V.
My plan worked perfectly. Another victim. I bring the girl to a cell and lock her in. She freaked when I reached for her and fainted. She'll be an easy victim. I know who she is, daughter of Sleeping Beauty. She was in my school once....

Brair's P.O.V.
I open my eyes. Everything is dark. Everything hurts. I use all my strength to get myself sitting upright. I'm in a cold, hard, damp cell. I rub my head. I hear other voices. My eyes slowly adjust to the dark. I know there's two other cells. There is a name above one. Beauty. That's my last name. I try to look harder. I slowly get up and walk right up to my cell bars. In the cell beside the one with the name, there's a girl leaning against the bars.
